Air France to operate 21 weekly flights to China

In summer 2023 Air France announced it will operate 21 weekly flights to China mark a turning point in Air France’s long-haul flight schedule. The carrier will operate to Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai daily by 1st July using Boeing 777-300(ER) aircraft.

Cambodia seeks to increase China connectivity and tourism

A report in The Phnom Penh Post-dated 14th March stated Cambodia is seeking to increase China connectivity and tourism by its aviation regulator opening market to new carriers with goal to grow tourism to 1 million Chinese tourists this year. Pre Pandemic in its peak it had over 2.36 million tourists from China.

China Aircraft Leasing Group (CALC) grows fleet portfolio

China Aircraft Leasing Group (CALC) announcing its 2022 annual results stated it added 24 aircraft to its fleet portfolio resulting in a fleet of 176 aircraft as of 31 December 2022, including 150 owned aircraft and 26 managed aircraft. As of 31 December 2022. CALC has a 226 aircraft order book, including 131 Airbus, 66 Boeing and 29 COMAC aircraft. CALC Executive Director and CEO Mr. Mike Poon said: “The aviation industry is poised for a full recovery and strong growth in 2023, with global borders reopening and in particular, the strong rebound in China's civil aviation market is expected to lead a sharp rise in global passenger traffic. We also expect that airline will rely more on lessors to meet their accelerated needs for fleet optimization and capacity expansion due to a shortage of popular aircraft models and thus boost the market value of such asset class further too.”

Korean Air boosts China market capacity

Korean Air announced flights between Korea and mainland China will increase from 13 times per week to 84 times per week by the end of March, and to 99 times per week in May, following the two countries’ agreement to increase the number of flights to pre-pandemic levels.
