Akasa air takes delivery of the first of its seventy-two Aircraft from Boeing Akasa Air, India’s newest airline took delivery of its much anticipated first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in Seattle, USA. The airlines’ total order of 72 aircraft includes an initial delivery of 18 aircraft by March 2023, followed by delivery of the remaining 54 aircraft over the course of the next four years. Founder, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Akasa Air Vinay Dube said, “This is indeed a symbolic milestone in the journey of Akasa Air, bringing us one step closer to the process of obtaining our Air Operator’s Permit (AOP) and leading to our commercial launch. While we are extremely happy with this achievement, we want to keep ourselves focussed on the task of delivering on our vision to transform India’s air transportation ecosystem, support the nation’s economic growth engine and help fellow Indians chase their dreams”. Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO Stan Deal said “We are honoured to deliver the first 737 MAX to Akasa Air, India’s newest airline focused on making air travel inclusive and affordable for all. Flying an advanced, environmentally progressive 737 MAX fleet with greater fuel efficiency and lower operating costs will enable Akasa Air to profitably serve the Indian market while passing those savings on to its passengers." BLR Airport named the ‘Best Regional Airport in India and South Asia’ by Skytrax Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR Airport) announced it has been awarded the Best Regional Airport in India and South Asia title in the 2022 Skytrax World Airport Awards. BLR Airport has been accorded this recognition after being adjudged by customers, who vote for the airport with the best customer service every year, in a survey conducted globally. From check-in to arrivals, transfers, shopping, security, immigration, to departures at the gates, the survey evaluates the consumer experience across airport service and key performance factors. IndiGo on a Green mission to conserve water and reduce carbon emissions IndiGo is implementing innovative measures to reduce water and fuel consumption on flights, on the occasion of world environment day. The airline has successfully conducted trials with a new water faucet in 200 flights which reduced water consumption by 5.4 ltr/hr. For an average length 138 min flight (as per our trials conducted onboard), we saved 12.42 Ltr of water per flight. IndiGo currently operates 1500 daily flights with an average flight duration of 98min. This new installation will reduce water consumption by 8.82 ltr/ flight, enabling overall water savings of 13230 Ltr/ Day. This modification will also solve the challenge of water quantity in long flights. The reduced need for uplifting water in shorter flights will also contribute to fuel savings during operations, reducing carbon emissions by 930.75 Kg CO2/m3 per year. President & Chief Operating Officer IndiGo Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said, “As a leading airline, we have a special responsibility towards the environment and ESG is therefore one of our top corporate goals. We are in the process of institutionalising a sustainable approach to operations over the last few years, where-in sustainability is being integrated with day-to-day operations. With this new initiative, we aim to conserve water and significantly reduce carbon emissions through fuel savings.
