1. Delta to Resume Tel Aviv Service from New York-JFK on April 1
Delta Airlines has announced the resumption of its daily nonstop service between New York-JFK and Tel Aviv (TLV) starting April 1, 2025. The route will be operated using the Airbus A330-900neo, offering nearly 2,000 weekly seats. The decision to restart flights comes after a thorough security review in coordination with government and private-sector partners. Delta emphasised that passenger and crew safety remains a top priority, with additional security measures being implemented for operations to and from Tel Aviv.
2. JetBlue Extends Partnership with TAP Air Portugal
JetBlue and TAP Air Portugal have expanded their codeshare partnership, now allowing passengers to earn and redeem points across both networks. This means that members of JetBlue’s TrueBlue loyalty program and TAP’s Miles&Go program can accumulate and use points interchangeably on either airline. Chris Buckner, JetBlue’s VP of Loyalty and Partnerships, highlighted that this enhancement gives customers more flexibility, greater reward opportunities, and an enriched travel experience.
3. Southwest Airlines Achieves IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Certification
Southwest Airlines has successfully completed the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), an internationally recognised safety accreditation that evaluates an airline’s operational management and control systems. This certification places Southwest on the IOSA Registry for two years, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to safety and operational excellence. Andrew Watterson, Southwest’s COO, stated that achieving IOSA demonstrates the airline’s accountability to global safety standards, complementing its existing Safety Management System and Safety Culture.
4. United to Restart Newark-Tel Aviv Service
United Airlines has announced the resumption of its Newark (EWR) to Tel Aviv (TLV) route, with flights restarting on March 15, 2025, and a second daily flight beginning March 29, 2025. The airline will operate the service with Boeing 787-10 aircraft and noted that the decision followed an in-depth operational assessment and collaboration with flight attendants and pilot unions. United is the first U.S. airline to resume service to Tel Aviv in 2025 and will also provide additional connectivity through its partnerships with Lufthansa Group airlines.
