Air India Express announces Summer 2024 expansion
Air India Express announced a significant network expansion and increased flight frequencies to cater to the anticipated surge in travel demand during the upcoming summer season. The carrier will offer over 360 daily departures, connecting a wide range of business and leisure destinations from its bases at Ayodhya, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kannur, Kolkata, Kochi, Mangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, and Varanasi. The carrier is growing its network significantly, with over 25% increase in domestic and over 20% in international flights. This translates to an additional 55 domestic flights and 19 international flights, bringing the total to 259 domestic and 109 international departures.
FLY91 commences commercial operations
India new start up airline Fly91 commenced operations on March 18, 2024, with a flight from Manohar International Airport in Goa (GOX) to Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), Bengaluru followed by a second sector Bengaluru and Sindhudurg (SDW), in the state of Maharashtra using 72 seat ATR72-600 aircraft. FLY91 CEO & Managing Director Manoj Chacko, said “We at FLY91 are incredibly proud to launch our inaugural commercial flight, symbolizing our commitment to connecting India in a way that has never been done before. This inaugural flight is not just about reaching a destination; it’s about taking flight with the dreams and aspirations of a nation.”
IndiGo announces new Mumbai-Colombo route
IndiGo announced a new route between its Mumbai Hub and Colombo operating three times weekly effective from 12th April. Mumbai has become the fourth destination on IndiGo’s route route network with direct connectivity to Colombo, after Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. IndiGo Head of Global Sales Vinay Malhotra said, "We are pleased to launch new direct flights between Mumbai and Colombo, which would serve as a catalyst in enhancing travel, trade and tourism, between India and Sri Lanka. With the addition of these flights, IndiGo will operate 37 weekly flights to Colombo from 4 cities in India.”
