Air India orders 100 more Airbus aircraft
Air India, announced it has placed an order to purchase 100 more Airbus aircraft, comprising 10 widebody A350 and 90 narrowbody A320 Family aircraft, including A321neo. These 100 new aircraft are in addition to the firm orders of 470 aircraft that Air India had placed with Airbus and Boeing last year. The latest order takes the total number of aircraft that Air India ordered with Airbus in 2023 from 250 aircraft, comprising 40 A350 and 210 A320 Family aircraft, to 350. Tata Sons and Air India Chairman, Natarajan Chandrasekaran said, “With India’s passenger growth outpacing the rest of the world, its significantly improving infrastructure and an aspirational young population increasingly going global, we see a clear case for Air India to expand its future fleet beyond the firm orders of the 470 aircraft placed last year. These additional 100 Airbus aircraft will help to position Air India on the path to greater growth and contribute to our mission of building Air India into a world-class airline that connects India to every corner of the world.”
IndiGo Connects Bengaluru to Ayodhya and Gorakhpu
IndiGo announced the launch new route connecting Bengaluru to Ayodhya and restoration of service to Gorakhpu, both operating daily effective December 31, 2024. IndiGo Head of Global Sales said, “The launch of daily flights connecting Bengaluru with Ayodhya reflects our commitment towards enhancing regional connectivity in the country, and further strengthens Bengaluru’s position as a key gateway travel. The daily flights are timed to enable our customers ample time to explore Ayodhya, a city of profound spiritual significance and also connect further with IndiGo's wider network.”
Noida International Airport (NIA) conducts successful Validation Flight
Noida International Airport (NIA) announced it has achieved a significant milestone with the successful completion of its validation flight on 9th December 2024, a vital element of the aerodrome licensing process. The flight conducted by IndiGo Airbus A320, verified the airport’s approach procedures, confirming the accuracy and functionality of its navigational aids and air traffic control systems (ATC System). The validation flight is being conducted on an Airbus A320 to test the RNP (Required Navigation Performance) procedures and ILS approach procedures. RNP is a set of navigation specifications that allow aircraft to fly precise flightpaths with high accuracy. Noida International Airport CEO Christoph Schnellmann, said "The successful completion of validation flights at Noida International Airport is a proud moment for our entire team. This milestone reflects the dedication and meticulous planning that has gone into ensuring the airport is ready for commercial operations. We are gearing up for the airport’s opening and look forward to welcoming passengers to the airport.”
