Air Inuit orders three Boeing 737-800SF Freighter Conversions

Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) announced Air Inuit ordered three Boeing 737-800SF freighter conversions . The first aircraft (MSN 40852) is to begin modification this month for redelivery in late March 2024. The conversion will be performed by KF Aerospace in Kelowna, BC in Canada. The second and third aircraft are due to commence modification in March 2024 and July 2024. Air Inuit’s president and CEO Christian Busch said, “We are pleased to partner with AEI for our freighter conversion needs for both our B738 freighter operations as well as for our soon to come innovative world’s first B738 combi aircraft.”

 

Canadian North Announces Leadership Transition

Canadian North announced a strategic leadership transition with immediate effect. Shelly De Caria, current VP for Sales, Marketing & Distribution, will assume the role of Interim President & CEO, marking a historic milestone as the first Inuk to lead Canadian North. Canadian North Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors Johnny Adams said "Shelly's extensive experience, notably her pivotal role in community investment, aligns seamlessly with our mission, ensuring our communities continue to be well-served and supported. The Board of Directors and the Executive Team extend their full support to Shelly in her new role as Interim President & CEO."

 

Lufthansa Technik and National Airlines expand cooperation

National Airlines and Lufthansa Technik announced signature of an  agreement to expand their cooperation in the field of Engine Maintenance Services (EMS). The contract includes the overhaul of a minimum of eleven CF6-80 engines over the next five years for the Boeing 747 fleet as well as additional support services. National Airlines Vice President of Technical Operations Jim Casbarro said "National Airlines is extremely pleased to announce our expanding cooperation with Lufthansa Technik. Through this cooperation, National now has access to Lufthansa's wealth of industry leading experience and knowledge to further assist in our growth and operational reliability. We look forward to many years of continuing partnership with Lufthansa Technik."

 

The WestJet Group integrates Swoop

The WestJet Group announced it has completed the integration of its ultra-low-cost carrier Swoop into WestJet's existing Boeing 737 operations. The carrier will leverage the successes and learnings from five years of operating Canada's first ULCC across its operation to enhance passenger experience. WestJet Group Chief Executive Officer CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech said “As the first ULCC to enter the Canadian market, in 2018 Swoop pioneered the no-frills product in Canada and was best-in-class in generating ancillary revenues. By keeping costs low, Swoop was able to offer the most competitive fares and appeal to Canadian travellers of all demographics. As we conclude this integration, we will learn from Swoop's successes to best serve our guests with diversified product offerings that meet a variety of needs."
