Air Lease Corporation (ALC) Delivers First Airbus A220-300 to TAAG Angola Airlines

Air Lease Corporation (ALC) announced the delivery of one new Airbus A220-300 to TAAG Angola Airlines. This is the first A220 aircraft to deliver on long-term lease to TAAG and is the first of six new A220-300s. Air Lease Corporation (ALC) Chairman Steven F. Udvar-Házy, said “We are pleased to announce ALC’s first of six new A220-300 aircraft delivered to TAAG Angola Airlines. ALC is the first lessor to introduce the A220 to the airline and we look forward to assisting TAAG in commencing its long-term fleet modernization program by adding these new-generation, fuel-efficient aircraft.”

 

Delta and SAS Sign Codeshare Agreement

Delta and SAS Airlines announced signature of codeshare agreement effective 25 September. The extensive codeshare agreement will improve connection opportunities for their clients flying between North America via Delta’s hubs in Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, and Seattle and Scandinavia hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm , and will offer reciprocal codeshare and frequent flyer benefits. Delta’s Senior Vice President Alliances, Perry Cantarutti, said “As part of Delta’s mission to connect people around the world, our new partnership with SAS will strengthen our presence in Northern Europe by offering customers improved access to destinations throughout Scandinavia and a better overall flying experience.”   

 

United Signs Starlink Deal

United announced the signing the industry's largest agreement of its kind with SpaceX to bring Starlink's fast, reliable Wi-Fi service to the airline's mainline and regional aircraft, which will be available free of charge. The carrier begins flight testing in early 2025 with the first passenger flights expected later that year. United expects to have Starlink on its fleet over 1,000 aircraft over the next several years, becoming the first carrier in the world to commit to offering Starlink service at this scale. United CEO Scott Kirby said "Everything you can do on the ground, you'll soon be able to do onboard a United plane at 35,000 feet, just about anywhere in the world. This connectivity opens the door for an even better inflight entertainment experience, in every seatback – more content, that's more personalized. United's culture of innovation is, once again, delivering big for our customers."
