Avelo Airlines Announces First Caribbean Destination

Aeronautical Engineers Inc (AEI) adds Serve Air to growing customer base

Aeronautical Engineers Inc (AEI) announced that Democratic Republic of Congo-based Serve Air has ordered its first AEI B737-800SF freighter conversion. The conversion of aircraft, (MSN 30517) has commenced modification by the authorized AEI conversion Center, Commercial Jet in Dothan, Alabama, for re-delivery to Serve Air in early November. Serve Air is the first operator of the Boeing 737-800SF aircraft type, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Serve Air expects to increase its fleet to a total of six aircraft as part of its expansion plans.

Avelo Airlines announced First Caribbean Destination with a new route between service between Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) and Puerto Rico’s San Juan Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) commencing 15 November operating twice weekly using Boeing 737-700/800 aircraft. Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy said, “A lot of people have been eagerly awaiting this news. With a large and increasing number of Puerto Ricans calling Connecticut home, this service will make reconnecting with friends and family easier and more affordable than ever. And with winter right around the corner, this Caribbean island treasure is the latest example of how Avelo is inspiring travel in new and exciting ways for Southern Connecticut. At the same time, we expect the affordability and convenience of this new route will inspire a meaningful number of travelers to visit Connecticut from Puerto Rico. This is a win-win opportunity for Connecticut and Puerto Rico. I want to thank Governor Lamont, Senator Blumenthal and so many others from across Connecticut for the leadership and vision they have demonstrated that made today possible.”

 

Etihad Airways adds Boston to growing route network

Etihad Airways announced  the launch of four weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, from its Abu Dhabi base to Boston commencing on 31 March 2024 using Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Etihad Airways CEO Antonoaldo Neves said “We are delighted to introduce flights to Boston, which opens up Abu Dhabi to visitors from the American Northeast and across the United States. “We eagerly await welcoming guests to our extraordinary home as well as offering them access to our growing global network.”

 

Global Crossing Airlines Increases Capital Base

Global Crossing Airlines announced the closing of the placement of $35 million of Senior Secured Notes due 2029 with funds managed by Axar Capital Management LP and its affiliates. Global X CEO Ed Wegel said “GlobalX is excited to welcome Axar as our financing partner as we continue to expand our fleet and capitalize on the growth that our platform is driving.
