Aircastle Appoints Chief Risk Officer (CRO)

Aircastle announced the appointment of David Odlum as Chief Risk Officer, who is expected to join on December 1, 2024. Mr. Odlum will be based at the Company’s office in Dublin, Ireland, and will report directly to the CEO, Michael Inglese. Aircastle CEO Michael Inglese, said “David brings a wealth of experience in risk management and portfolio strategy. He’s had a distinguished career in aviation finance and his expertise in airline restructurings, risk frameworks, and strategic portfolio management will be crucial as we continue to evolve and address the complexities of our industry.”

Aviation Capital Group (ACG) announced the delivery of one Boeing 737-9 MAX aircraft to United Airlines. The aircraft is the second aircraft delivery as part of a multiple aircraft sale-leaseback (SLB) transaction between ACG and United Airlines.

 

British Airways announces record-breaking North America Summer 25 schedule

British Airways announced it will operate a record number of flights from London to the US, Canada and Mexico in Summer 2025, offering more than 400 direct flights per week during its peak weeks, including 26 US cities. The carrier will increase frequencies to Austin, Las Vegas, Miami, Pittsburgh, Washington Dulles and Vancouver. British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer Neil Chernoff, said "The US remains a priority market for us, and we know these network changes will be welcomed by both our business and leisure customers, providing more options than ever before to travel between the UK and the USA.”

 

The WestJet Group leases three additional Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft from SMBC Aviation Capital

The WestJet Group announced it will acquire three additional Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, from SMBC Aviation Capital. The acquisition of nine leased Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in the last six months allows the airline to bolster its plan for fleet growth, while managing delays for direct-from-factory aircraft. SMBC Aviation Capital Chief Commercial Officer Barry Flannery, said "SMBC Aviation Capital is pleased to continue its partnership with WestJet, supporting their fleet expansion with these fuel-efficient, new technology aircraft. These Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft will allow WestJet to further grow their network and continue to serve their guests with affordable air travel options. We look forward to many more years of successful partnership with WestJet."
