CAAC aviation industry poised to reach 75% of pre-pandemic level

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) plans to revive its civil aviation industry to 75 percent of the pre-pandemic level this year. Through policy measures CAAC  will encourage large airlines to build air express lines between hubs, encourage small and medium-sized airlines to focus on regional markets, and restore the international aviation market in a stable and orderly manner.

COMAC delivers its 100th ARJ21

Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) announced its 100th ARJ21 delivery on its official WeChat account on 29th December 2022. COMAC stated "The delivery of the 100th aircraft after the mass production is an important milestone for any commercial aircraft type. It means that the operating performance and operating level of the ARJ21 aircraft fleet are basically equal to that of mainstream aircraft, indicating that the safety and reliability of this aircraft have been fully tested by airlines and the civil aviation market."

Etihad Airways adds flights to Shanghai as travel demand to and from China grows

Etihad Airways is set to strengthen air connectivity between the UAE and China an additional weekly frequency on its Abu Dhabi to Shanghai route. Subject to regulatory approval, from February 2023, the airline will fly to Pudong International Airport (PVG) two times per week Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft.

Hainan Airlines to resume non-stop flights to Brussels Airport

Hainan Airlines will resume Brussels to Beijing from 12 January operating four times weekly with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Etihad Aviation Group Senior Vice President of Global Sales & Cargo Martin Drew said "Etihad Airways is delighted to add a second weekly passenger service to Shanghai following the further relaxation of Covid-related travel measures. China is a market of primary importance to Etihad, and as one of the country's largest financial and economic centres, Shanghai plays a crucial role in our network. Etihad is committed to developing our operation to China.”

HAECO Xiamen to build world’s largest MRO hangar at Xiamen Xiang’an International Airport

HAECO Xiamen commenced the construction of its new aircraft maintenance facility in Xiamen Xiang’an International Airport. There will be 12 wide-body and six narrow-body maintenance bays as well as two separate painting bays to provide flexible parking for multiple aircraft types and different maintenance needs. Once the construction completes, HAECO Xiamen will be the largest single span aircraft maintenance hangar in the world.
