China's domestic air passenger triples in April The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) announced China's domestic air passenger trips reached 51.09 million in April, up 205.5% from prior year. China's Tibet to build three new airports The Tibet Autonomous Region in southwest China will build three new airports, a move to further improve the region's comprehensive transport system, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Hong Kong-Singapore air travel bubble to begin on 26 May The Air Travel Bubble (ATB) between Hong Kong and Singapore with designated flights will begin on 26 May. "The re-launch of the ATB not only meets the aspirations of the people and business communities on cross-border travel, but also signifies that gradual resumption of cross-border travel is achievable through mutual collaborations among different places," Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government Edward Yau said. Qingdao Airlines reaffirms commitment to connectivity Qingdao Airlines, has announced that it is fully committed to expanding and accelerating the deployment of high-speed inflight satellite internet across its aircraft fleet. This announcement follows the successful evaluation of the first commercial high-speed internet flight trial in China. Qingdao Airlines President Wu Longxue said “After Qingdao Airlines launched the high-speed inflight internet flight, it not only won strong accolades from passengers, but also created a new business model of ‘Internet + Aviation’, making Qingdao Airlines a role model for the domestic industry.” SkyFive creates sister company for 5G ATG over China SkyFive, an air-to-ground (ATG) provider for the aviation sector, has created an an independent sister company – SkyFive Inflight Connectivity (Beijing) – which is dedicated to developing a 5G ATG inflight connectivity solution for airlines in China.
