China advances development of AG600 large amphibious aircraft
Major large parts of the No.3 AG600 test aircraft and some test parts for iron-bird tests have recently entered the manufacturing phase, said state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC). These major large parts include the nose, middle fuselage and rear fuselage of the AG600 test aircraft, which will carry out the following tests for the large amphibious aircraft model.
China Airfreight industry reaches for new heights
The airfreight industry on the Chinese mainland has experienced remarkable growth. This expansion has been driven by strong global demand for medical supplies to combat COVID-19 and the exponential growth of e-commerce, with more people working, shopping and seeking entertainment online.
China's air transport logs 125 consecutive safe flight months
China's civil air transport sector has achieved 125 consecutive months of safe flight operations as of the end of January, according to the civil aviation authorities. As of the end of January, the country's civil air transport industry maintained 90.18 million hours of safe flight operation, showed data from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Over the 125 months, the sector safely served up to 4.65 billion passengers.
China sees booming overseas cargo flights during Spring Festival
China’s civil aviation sector handled a total of 2,553 overseas cargo flights during the seven-day holiday between 11-17 February according to statistics from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). The CAAC has introduced comprehensive measures to support the growth of the aviation logistics sector by simplifying approval procedures, offering more flight timetable choices and optimizing resource allocation.
Sales in Hainan duty-free shops hit more than $231 million during Spring Festival holidays
According to the Hainan commerce department, from February 11 to 17, the 7-day sales of outbound duty-free shops in Hainan exceeded 1.5 billion yuan ($231 million). Sales exceeded 280 million yuan on 14th February. The rising sales of Hainan duty-free products are seen as vindication of China's opening-up policy, as the resort island offers greater visa-free access and duty-free shopping for tourists backed by an air transport network.
