Boeing Forecasts China's 20-year Commercial Airplane Market Valued at Nearly $1.5 trillion
Boeing forecasts that China’s airlines will require 8,700 new airplanes by 2040, valued at $1.47 trillion, to meet expanding commercial air travel demand. The 20-year forecast reflects the China market’s rebound and further evolution of its airline business models. Boeing shared the China forecast as part of the 2021 Commercial Market Outlook (CMO), the company’s long-term forecast of demand for commercial airplanes and services.
China Eastern new subsidiary ‘China Eastern Airlines’ Hainan for network expansion
China Eastern has opened a new subsidary in Hainan Island. It agreed with Sanya Municipal Government to launch China Eastern Airlines Hainan with its headquarter in Yazhou Bay Science & Technology City, Hainan. The airline will deploy the capacity of up to 50 aircraft at the new base.
JD.com expands freighter operations with Heathrow flights
JD.com with AeroTransCargo to launch regular freighter flights to the UK as part of efforts to meet growing cross-border e-commerce demand. The service operate will three-times-per-week using a Boeing 747-400F operated by AeroTransCargo between Hefei Xinqiao International and London Heathrow Airport on behalf of JD.com.
New Beijing airport handles nearly 39 million passengers
Beijing Daxing International Airport handled nearly 39 million over the past two years said the airport in a statement. The annual passenger throughput will likely exceed 20 million by the end of September based on current traffic trends.
Volocopter Expands into Chinese Market
The German urban air mobility company Volocopter has announced a joint venture company with a subsidiary of China’s Geely Technology Group, Aerofugia, to bring its UAM aircraft into China. Volocopter CEO Florian Reuter stated “Today marks another important milestone on our journey to bring affordable electric air mobility to China, the biggest single market opportunity for the UAM industry. With the joint venture company up and running and Daniel Li Donghui as the new Geely representative on our Advisory Board, we are in pole position to introduce air taxi services globally in a safe, sustainable, and practical manner.”
