Air India launches four new routes at London Gatwick
Air India launched four new services from London Gatwick to Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Kochi and Goa, operating three times a week operated by Boeing 787-8 aircraft, having switched from London Heathrow. Air India Managing Director & CEO Campbell Wilson said “We have ambitious yet focused plans to restore Air India to its rightful place as one of the world’s foremost carriers. Our substantial investment in customer service, new aircraft and the brand overall will enable us to gain market share on key routes from the UK to India as well as drive more business and leisure travellers to visit India itself.”
DGCA Approves Modification for Hindustan-228
HAL aircraft announced a new modified version of ‘Hindustan 228-201 LW’ has been approved by the DGCA with a maximum take-off weight of 5695 kgs with 19 passenger capability. This modification enables aircraft to fall in the Sub 5700 kg aircraft category, providing several operational benefits for operators including enhanced availability of pilot pool.
IndiGo partners with VisitBritain
IndiGo and VisitBritain have partnered to to promote travel to United Kingdom through its codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines. IndiGo offers connectivity to London, Manchester and Birmingham in the United Kingdom through Istanbul. This joint approach will not only boost trade and tourism between the two countries but will also provide customers with an affordable travel option. IndiGo Head of Global Sales Mr Vinay Malhotra, said, "Though the United Kingdom is a year-round destination, during the summer and late spring, there is an even larger influx of visitors. Through these connections IndiGo aims to provide customers with even more options, particularly during the peak tourist season from India.”
Vistara launches first route to Africa
Vistara commenced five weekly flights between its Mumbai base and Mauritius, becoming its 15th international destination and first in Africa, operated by Airbus A321LR aircraft in a three-class configuration. Vistara CEO Mr Vinod Kannan said “We are delighted to take India’s finest airline to Africa, as we launch operations to Mauritius. The long-standing relations and strong trade ties between the two countries, in addition to the growing tourism potential of the destination, make it a perfect fit in our network.”
