Airports Authority of India goes Live with Aireon System, Providing the Highest Safety Standards for Air Travel in the Region Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced that Aireon's space-based ADS-B air traffic surveillance system is successfully being utilized across Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata's oceanic airspaces, just 18 months after signing a contract to implement the service. As the third largest airspace in the world, AAI is making significant strides towards enhancing safety and efficiency across their ever-growing, highly trafficked area. "The collaboration and determination to complete implementation testing remotely by both the AAI and Aireon teams have set the region up for a successful 2021," said Vineet Gulati, Board Member, Air Navigation Services, AAI.  "Despite the challenges that came because of the ongoing global pandemic, AAI was able to continue testing to prepare our airspace to go live with Aireon's safety-of-life service. When travel picks up again, AAI will be ready to support the rapid increase of aircraft in a cohesive and efficient manner." Boeing Underscores Commitment to India, Projects Growth for Aerospace & Defence Industry Boeing shared its 2021 growth strategy for the Indian market, underscoring its confidence in the fundamentals of India’s aviation and defence industry, and projecting future growth for the sector. Due to the significant impact of COVID-19 on the commercial aviation market, Boeing forecasts indicate that it will take around three years for air travel to return to 2019 levels and a few years beyond that to return to long term growth trends. India’s large domestic passenger market relative to total passenger travel (domestic and international) presents an opportunity for a quicker recovery when the COVID-19 pandemic abates. India is expected to grow at a world-leading compound annual growth rate of 5.2 percent through 2039. This is mainly contributed by the rapidly growing middle class in India. IndiGo now seventh biggest worldwide by capacity IndiGo, India’s largest carrier by fleet and domestic market share, has been propelled to the seventh spot worldwide by capacity according to the latest rankings from OAG. IndiGo has 332 Airbus A320neo on order while the order for Airbus A321neo stands at 398 aircraft. Only 30 of the A321neos have been delivered. India plans to sign air bubble agreement with more countries The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced said that India is planning to sign more air bubble agreement with countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia in the coming weeks. Notably, India has signed air bubbles with 24 countries so far. The move is aimed at enhancing the aviation sector which has been worst affected at this time of coronavirus pandemic. India has signed air bubble agreement with Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Canada, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Iraq, Japan, Kenya, Kuwait, Maldives, Nepal, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Rwanda, Tanzania, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Ukraine, and United States of America Acumen Aviation © 25 January 2021 All Rights Reserved.
