Air cargo service from Dimapur approved The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has approved cargo operations from the Dimapur airport. The cargo service will target the farming sector to facilitate export of agricultural produce from Nagaland to a wider consumer base. The proposal to start the service was submitted to the Bureau of Civil Aviation by the Dimapur airport authority under a scheme of the Union Civil Aviation Ministry for facilitating quick market linkage for agricultural products, especially fruits. BIAL Kempegowda becomes first Indian airport to get a disabled aircraft recovery kit Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport has become the first airport in India to get a disabled aircraft recovery equipment (DARE). BIAL MD & CEO Hari Marar said “The acquisition of this aircraft recovery equipment is an important milestone for us at BLR Airport. Being prepared is the key to running a high-performance airport. This is not only important for the Airport, but also for the entire aviation ecosystem as a whole.” The kit is capable of recovering up to Airbus A380 size ensuring that runway closure effects are minimised. BOC Aviation Signs Purchase-And-Leaseback Agreement With Indigo For Eight New Airbus A320neo Aircraft BOC Aviation to announce that it has signed purchase-and-leaseback agreements with IndiGo for eight new Airbus A320NEO aircraft. The aircraft will be powered by CFM Leap engines and are scheduled to be delivered in the second half of 2021. Mr. Riyaz Peermohamed, Chief Aircraft Acquisition & Financing Officer, IndiGo, said: “We are pleased to further strengthen our existing relationship with BOC Aviation. The addition of these eight A320NEO aircraft demonstrates our confidence in the future growth of the aviation market in India.” Domestic air traffic may be back to full pre-Covid level by start of summer season Domestic air traffic is expected to be back to the full pre-COVID-19 level by the summer schedule with the traffic seeing a sharp recovery from the July quarter onwards after the resumption of the services post Unlock 1.0, announced Minister of State for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri speaking at the 'India Aircraft Leasing Summit' at New Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan. India now allows you to avail a discount on flight ticket if you are not carrying a check-in baggage India’s civil aviation regulator has asked airlines to give concessions in ticket prices to passengers who are carrying cabin baggage only, for domestic flights. The current rules allow passengers to carry up to 7 kilograms of cabin baggage and 15 kilograms of check-in baggage. After these new rules, the airlines will be able to provide tickets at lower rates to those passengers who opt to carry just cabin baggage within a permissible limit. The regulator has not clarified when these new rules will come into effect. IndiGo to Operate Select Domestic Flights From Mumbai Airport T1 From 10 March IndiGo said that all its domestic flights having subset series 6E 5500 – 6E 5900 will be operated from Mumbai Terminal 1 from 10 March. All other flights, including 5000 series will continue to operate from Terminal 2, the airline said in a release. The private airport operator, running and managing the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) had on Friday announced that it will resume domestic flight operations from Terminal-1 from the 10th March. SpiceJet launches scheduled freighter services to Singapore SpiceXpress has launched scheduled cargo flights connecting Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai with Singapore.  The airline will deploy its Boeing 737-700F/800F aircraft on these routes operating twice weekly. SpiceJet Chairman & MD Ajay Singh said  “We are delighted to commence our scheduled freighter operations to Singapore. This development would strengthen air trades between the two countries by providing faster and seamless logistics solutions. In addition, this strategic move would help SpiceXpress build its network in South East Asia.
