Civil aviation ministry receives in-principle approval for setting up 21 greenfield airports across India The civil aviation ministry has received ‘in-principle’ approval for setting up 21 greenfield airports across the country, the ministry informed the parliament on.  Out of these 21 airports, eight airports have been operationalized. The government also said that 154 Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) airports, including 14 water aerodromes and 36 helipads, have been identified for development/upgradation, under the Udey Desh ka Aam Naagarik (UDAN) scheme. HAL successfully conducts trials on Hindustan-228 HAL has successfully carried out testing on India-made Hindustan-228 which is based on the Hindustan-228 already assembled by HAL in the country. HAL did the ground run and Low Speed Taxi Trials (LSTT) on the India's first commercial aircraft. All the tests were conducted in co-ordination with DGCA (Director General of Civil Aviation). The Hindustan Aeronautics partnered with Alliance Air to dry lease two India-made Do-228 aircrafts for operations in the North East IndiGo signs agreement with CSIR-IIP to make sustainable aviation fuel IndiGo has signed an agreement with Dehradun-based Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIRIIP) to manufacture and deploy sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) globally. IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta "We have partnered with CSIR-IIP to ensure that we are working towards controlling emissions, and in the process, building supply chains for manufacturing and deploying sustainable aviation fuel in India and globally in the foreseeable future." International passenger flights will not resume till January 31, says India’s aviation regulator International passenger flights to and from India will remain suspended till January 31, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced last week, amid concerns about the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19. The restrictions will not apply to flights specifically approved by the aviation watchdog and international all-cargo operations. International scheduled flights on selected routes may be allowed on a case-to-case basis. Kannur International Airport Limited (KIAL) enters 4th year, witnesses surge in international travellers despite Covid crisis Kannur International Airport Limited (KIAL) is celebrating a milestone as it enters the fourth year of operations. Interestingly, the airport became one among the top 10 airports in India that witnessed surge in international travellers in August and September.
