Aurangabad needs international airport: Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant
Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant on June 12 said for its overall growth, Maharashtra's Aurangabad needs an international airport facility and an international convention centre, which will boost tourism and industries in the region. Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said “It is now important to expand the Aurangabad airport and convert it into an international facility. I will talk to the Airport Authority regarding this. Apart from this, the region also needs an international convention centre, which can be connected to tourism here.”
India’s first medical drone delivery trials from 18th June
India’s first official beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) medical drone delivery experiment is scheduled to begin this week in Gauribidanur, some 80km from Bengaluru. Nagendran Kandasamy, CEO stated “Two other consortia also have permission for BVLOS experiments, but ours is the first legal/official medical drone delivery experiment. We have come a long way since 2016 and are at a pivotal moment. After a long wait, we now have an official go-ahead from the BVLOS Experiment Monitoring Committee (BEMC) and we look forward to leveraging commercial drone delivery in India soon.”
IndiGo to Start Flights Between Darbhanga and Kolkata, Hyderabad from 5th July
IndiGo announced it will commence flights connecting Darbhanga with Kolkata and Hyderabad from 5th July operating daily flights . The airline said being the 6th largest metropolis in Bihar, Darbhanga is also one of the fastest growing cities of India owing to the increasing opportunities in manufacturing and trade across the states.
Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR) achieves net energy neutral status
Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has announced the accomplishment of one of its ambitious sustainability goals Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR) has achieved net energy neutral status in FY2020-21. As part of its sustainability goals, BIAL had set the target to become net energy neutral by 2020-21. BIAL CEO & MD Hari Marar said “As we expand our operations at BLR Airport, we aim to remain the flagbearer of sustainable operations. We have put in place various measures to reduce our carbon footprint and to protect our environment. Energy security is a very important aspect of our business, as it is one of the key indicators to assess our sustainability levels.”
Yediyurappa unveils designs of passenger terminal, ATC at Shivamogga Airport
Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa at the weekend unveiled designs of passenger terminal and ATC at under construction Airport and reviewed the works on the outskirts of the city. Following a tour of the works of the runway and the terminal areas, he also unveiled the design of the airport's passenger terminal and the air traffic control tower. He said the airport is being constructed at a cost of Rs 384 crore. The works are being done in two phases. Runway work is underway in the first phase while in the second phase, the passenger terminal and ATC will be constructed.
