Airbus Sees Massive Growth Potential in India Airbus forecasts India will need 1,750 new passenger and cargo planes in the next two decades in order to meet the rapid growth seen in passenger and freight traffic. The plane maker said that of this total demand growth in the emerging nation, 1,320 would be new single aisle aircraft and 430 wide-body jets with total estimated book value of nearly $255 billion. At the recently held Wings 2018 aviation event, Airbus Commercial Aircraft India president Srinivasan Dwarakanath said that the company expects to deliver an average of one plane a week to Indian carriers in the next 10 years. Aviation Ministry looks at chopper services in cities People living in congested and metro cities in India may soon have an option of flying over congested stretches. Aviation minister Suresh Prabhu said on the option of launching helicopter operations in congested and metro cities. “The minister mooted the idea of launching helicopter services in congested cities and from metro cities to hinterland with big capacity choppers” he added. GIFAS launches mission to strengthen French-Indian Aerospace cooperation GIFAS, the French Aerospace Industries Association, a driving force behind French-Indian cooperation, will head a major industrial mission to India from 16 to 19 April 2018. This GIFAS trade mission is an industrial demonstration of this long-standing strategic partnership across the civilian, defence and space sectors. India Air Passenger Traffic Grows The Fastest In 13 Months India Domestic airline passenger traffic rose at its fastest pace in 13 months in February, usually a lean month, as more than 10.7 million Indians took to the skies. Passenger traffic grew 24 percent over the year-ago period, according to data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, on the back of improving affordability, low penetration and favorable government policies. The growth in passenger traffic in the world’s fastest-growing aviation market was led by GoAir, IndiGo, Air Asia and Vistara. Jet Airways to add 144 new weekly flights India’s Jet Airways has announced it will add 144 weekly flights to its offering this summer. These will include both direct and one-stop services and all will be domestic flights around India. To begin later in March, the flights will serve areas such as Imphal, Jorhat, Tiruchirappalli, New Delhi and Mumbai. This move will strengthen connectivity in the north-east of the country to the nation’s capital, New Delhi. Kazakhstan plans to increase number of flights to India Kazakhstan plans to increase the number of flights to India, according to the Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan. Vistara Posts Over 95% Passenger Load Factor In February Vistara airline records over 95% occupancy in its economy class during February 2018, said a press release issued by the carrier.
