Akasa Air Orders CFM’s Advanced and Environmentally Friendly LEAP-1B engine to Launch Operations in India Akasa Air announced the purchase of CFM LEAP-1B engines to power its recently announced Boeing 737 MAX airplanes. The agreement, which also includes spare engines and long-term services agreement, is valued at nearly $4.5 billion U.S. at list price. Akasa Air CEO Vinay Dube said “We are extremely pleased to partner with CFM International as we embark on an exciting journey to launch the greenest, most affordable and most dependable airline in India. Our partnership with CFM will ensure that we adhere to the world’s highest standards of maintenance and deliver the industry’s best technical dispatch reliability. With this agreement, we now have the foundation to ensure the most competitive and reliable operations in our fast growing market.” Akasa Air Orders 72 Fuel-Efficient 737 MAX Airplanes to Launch Service in Fast-Growing Indian Market Boeing and Akasa Air, a brand of SNV Aviation announced the new Indian carrier has ordered (72) 737-8 and 737-8200 aircraft to build its fleet. Valued at nearly $9 billion at list prices, the order is a key endorsement of the 737 family's capability to serve the rapidly growing Indian market. Akasa Air CEO Vinay Dube said "We are delighted to partner with Boeing for our first airplane order and thank them for their trust and confidence in Akasa Air's business plan and leadership team. BCAS orders full body scanners at hypersensitive & sensitive airports by March 2022; in others by next year end The government has given a push for the installation of full-body scanners at airports here, after Covid significantly delayed the process. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) ordered all hypersensitive and sensitive airports to replace door frame metal detectors (DFMD) with scanners by March 2022. India now world's third largest domestic aviation market India Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated at 'Wings India 2022' that India has become the third largest domestic aviation market in the world. India presently handles the third largest domestic traffic after the US and China. India Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated “We all know that in this densely globalised economy, air transport is a key element in the country's transport infrastructure and plays an important role in the country's economic growth."
