BLR Airport welcomes UPS Operations  BLR Airport has welcomed UPS new five-weekly Boeing 747-8F operation connecting Bengaluru to key freighter markets across the world, becoming the first Airport in South India to host the 3 largest global express freighters. The UPS operation will connect Bengaluru to markets including China, Singapore, and Taiwan. Bangalore International Airport Limited Chief Strategy Officer Satyaki Raghunath said “BLR Airport is well positioned towards becoming a cargo hub, offering world-class infrastructure, powered by leading global logistics providers. The new UPS facility will augment the Airport’s overall annual cargo capacity and boost trade for businesses in South India. With express courier shipments gaining greater traction following the exponential growth of e-commerce and expedited cargo, the dedicated UPS gateway facility at BLR Airport is a significant step towards supporting and driving this growth”.  CHI Aviation secures deal with Kale Logistics Kale Logistics Solutions announced it has signed a contract to extend its partnership with  CHI Aviation Handling by a further five years extension. With Kale as CHI’s strategic tech partner has integrated GALAXY, to digitalise cargo handling operations. IndiGo appoints Mr. Meleveetil Damodaran to Board The Board of Directors of IndiGo has formally approved the appointment of Mr. Meleveetil Damodaran as Non-Independent Non Executive Director with immediate effect. MOCA Discusses roll-out of ‘DIGI YATRA’ Project The Consultative Committee meeting of Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) was held recently in New Delhi. The topic of discussion was ‘DIGI YATRA’, based on Facial Recognition Technology (FRT). The project basically envisages that any traveller may pass through the airport process digitally, using facial features to verify identity on individual passenger boarding pass. Digi Yatra is intially planned to be adopted at Varanasi and Bengaluru from August 2022. Vietjet adds 11 new Indian routes to network  Vietjet announced its largest flight schedule between Vietnam and India. The airline announces 11 additional new routes connecting four major Vietnamese cities with Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Hyderabad. The new routes make Vietjet the largest carrier operating between the two countries. Vietjet Vice President Nguyen Thanh Son said “Vietjet has been the first airline launching direct flights between Vietnam and India since 2019 and has constantly expanded its operation to the world’s second most populated country. As the world reopens to travel and feedbacks on our current India-Vietnam routes are excellent, we now prioritize to expand and increase flight operations to India.
