Aviation growth engine for development - Vidyasagar Rao
Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao has said the aviation sector is going to be the growth engine for future progress and development. Speaking at the valedictory session of the two-day Global Aviation Summit here, he said the global aviation industry is ushering in an era of rapid expansion.
“The civil aviation ministry anticipates that in the next two decades, air passenger traffic in India will grow to 1.12 billion passengers per year from the current 187 million passengers.
Etihad Guest, SBI launch co-branded Visa card
Etihad Guest, the loyalty programme of Etihad Airways, and SBI Card, one of India’s largest credit card issuers, have launched a unique travel-specific Visa credit card for members and the Indian community in the UAE. Etihad Airways vice president commercial partnerships, Yasser Al Yousuf, said: “India is a key strategic market for Etihad Airways and with some many Indian nationals living in the UAE, we are delighted to launch our first India-specific credit card with one of the country’s most revered institutions, SBI Card. This card enables members to earn Etihad Guest Miles every time they spend, empowering them to make choices about how they collect and spend their miles. With increased travel from our guests to US, we believe this card also strengthens our existing travel benefits including US pre-clearance.”
IndiGo announces the appointment of Mr. M Damodaran as Independent Non- Executive Director and Chairman of the Board, and Mr. Ronojoy Dutta as Chief Executive Officer
The Board of Directors of InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo) today announced the appointment of Mr. M. Damodaran as an Independent Non-Executive Director and the Chairman of the Board. IndiGo also fondly remembers the services of late Mr. M.D. Mallya, who was the first Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director since the airline was listed on the Indian stock exchanges. The Board of Directors also approved the appointment of Mr. Ronojoy Dutta as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Rahul Bhatia, Co-founder and Interim CEO of IndiGo said, “We are very pleased that Rono is joining the IndiGo team. India Largest source market for Dubai International Airport
India remained the biggest source of traffic for Dubai International Airport, accounting for more than 12.2 million travelers , according to statistics released on 28. The Indian cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Cochin where key city pairs to Dubai.
IndiGo marks entry into Istanbul effective March 2019
IndiGo announced 25 January Istanbul as its 16th international destination. The airline will operate its daily non-stop flights between Delhi and Istanbul effective March 20, 2019 with Airbus A321 aircraft. Mr. William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo said, “We are delighted to announce Istanbul as our 16th international destination effective March 2019. It is our privilege to be the first Indian carrier to fly into Turkey. Istanbul is one the most attractive tourist cities in the world and the gateway from Asia into Europe. Japan Airlines Announces Nonstop Service to Bengaluru
Japan Airlines (JAL) announced 23 January that it will launch a new nonstop service between Tokyo-Narita and Bengaluru India, during the summer of 2020.
Pratt & Whitney Supports V2500s While Prepping For GTFs in India
Pratt & Whitney established a training center at Hyderabad, India, in September, 2015. The third such Pratt training facility in the world, the center has been approved by both India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation and EASA to train engineers and mechanics on V2500-A5s and PW1100G-JM GTFs. The center can provide 5,000 student days per year of training.
Saab signs MoU with Airports Authority of India to explore air traffic management
Swedish aerospace and defence company Saab has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to explore air traffic management (ATM) solutions for airports operating under the regional connectivity scheme UDAN. "Saab and the AAI have signed an MoU to research a pan-Indian ATM Automation System for airports under the UDAN Regional Connectivity Scheme," the Swedish company said in a statement, adding that Saab and the AAI will jointly explore potential avenues for co-operation for ATM solutions in India.
