Aviation growth engine for development - Vidyasagar Rao Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao has said the aviation sector is going to be the growth engine for future progress and development. Speaking at the valedictory session of the two-day Global Aviation Summit here, he said the global aviation industry is ushering in an era of rapid expansion. “The civil aviation ministry anticipates that in the next two decades, air passenger traffic in India will grow to 1.12 billion passengers per year from the current 187 million passengers. Etihad Guest, SBI launch co-branded Visa card Etihad Guest, the loyalty programme of Etihad Airways, and SBI Card, one of India’s largest credit card issuers, have launched a unique travel-specific Visa credit card for members and the Indian community in the UAE. Etihad Airways vice president commercial partnerships, Yasser Al Yousuf, said: “India is a key strategic market for Etihad Airways and with some many Indian nationals living in the UAE, we are delighted to launch our first India-specific credit card with one of the country’s most revered institutions, SBI Card. This card enables members to earn Etihad Guest Miles every time they spend, empowering them to make choices about how they collect and spend their miles. With increased travel from our guests to US, we believe this card also strengthens our existing travel benefits including US pre-clearance.” IndiGo announces the appointment of Mr. M Damodaran as Independent Non- Executive Director and Chairman of the Board, and Mr. Ronojoy Dutta as Chief Executive Officer The Board of Directors of InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo) today announced the appointment of Mr. M. Damodaran as an Independent Non-Executive Director and the Chairman of the Board. Pratt & Whitney Supports V2500s While Prepping For GTFs in India Pratt & Whitney established a training center at Hyderabad, India, in September, 2015. The third such Pratt training facility in the world, the center has been approved by both India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation and EASA to train engineers and mechanics on V2500-A5s and PW1100G-JM GTFs. The center can provide 5,000 student days per year of training. Saab signs MoU with Airports Authority of India to explore air traffic management Swedish aerospace and defence company Saab has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to explore air traffic management (ATM) solutions for airports operating under the regional connectivity scheme UDAN. "Saab and the AAI have signed an MoU to research a pan-Indian ATM Automation System for airports under the UDAN Regional Connectivity Scheme," the Swedish company said in a statement, adding that Saab and the AAI will jointly explore potential avenues for co-operation for ATM solutions in India.
