AAI to invite bids under Udan scheme's 4th round of bidding
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will take bids from airlines for various routes under the fourth round of bidding of its regional connectivity scheme Udan, according to a government press release. Under the scheme, financial incentives in terms of concessions from the Centre, state governments and airport operators are extended to selected airlines to encourage operations from unserved and undeserved airports, and keep airfares affordable.
Bengaluru to be 2nd busiest airport, Mumbai to slip to 3rd position
Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), whose second runway will be operational from 5 December is set to handle more flights per day than Mumbai by next winter, pushing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to the third position. IndiGo becomes IATA member IndiGo announced it has become a member of the global lobbying body the International Air Transport Association (IATA), a step which will help India’s biggest airline forge commercial partnerships with member airlines across the world. The airline became the second low fare carrier in India after SpiceJet to get an IATA membership. IATA is a group of more than 290 member airlines. Pratt & Whitney GTF engines selected by GoAir to power 72 additional Airbus A320neos
Pratt & Whitney has announced it has signed an agreement with India-based GoAir to power the airline´s order of 72 A320neo aircraft with the Pratt & Whitney GTF engine. Pratt & Whitney will also provide GoAir with a long-term EngineWise® Comprehensive service agreement. The aircraft are expected to begin delivery in 2021.
Sichuan Airlines commences freighter aircraft operations om Delhi airport
Sichuan Airlines has commenced their freighter aircraft operations from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, GMR-led Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) announced. This is a significant development as with this routing, businesses in North India will gain faster access to the markets in China, according to an official statement. Sichuan Airlines commenced its freighter services twice a week from China's Shaanxi Province to Delhi and return to Chengdu operated by an Airbus A330-200F.
Vistara renews Amadeus contract
Vistara has signed an extended distribution and IT partnership with Amadeus that includes inventory, reservation, ticketing and departure control systems. Vistara chief strategy officer Vinod Kannan commented“ Amadeus (is) a key partner as we recognize the need to grow beyond our home market. At the same time, investment in the best technology will simplify our customers’ interactions with us.”
Vistara to Add 12 Aircraft Next Year
Vistara will add 12 aircraft next year to supplement a fleet of 41 by this year-end, with which it aims to create a unique hub and spoke arrangement linking its domestic and international operations, chief executive Leslie Thng said in an interview to Mint. The fleet expansion will see the induction of Boeing 787-9 , Airbus A320 and A321 into the fleet, which will be utilized across its domestic and international operations.
