AAI hands over Mangaluru airport to Adani group on lease for 50 years The Airports Authority of India (AAI) handed over the Mangaluru airport to the Adani group on lease for a period of 50 years. The central government in February 2019 had privatised six major airports of the country—Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, and Guwahat. “In accordance to concession agreement executed on February 14, 2020, AAI handed over handling of Mangaluru @aaimlrairport to @AdaniOnline on lease for 50 yrs. Exchange of symbolic key held at midnight 00:00 hrs on October 30, 2020,” the AAI said on Twitter Government eyes setting up 14 more water aerodromes for seaplane services The government is looking to set up 14 more water aerodromes across the country after the successful launch of seaplane service by Prime Minister Narendra Modi between the Statue of Unity near Kevadiya in Gujarat's Narmada district and Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad. These will facilitate seaplane services on various routes including Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar, Assam, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand. SpiceJet gets 3,000 bookings for seaplane service The chairman and managing director of SpiceJet, Ajay Singh said the airline on the first day of beginning operations in Gujarat, received an “overwhelming” 3000 bookings for the route between Sabarmati riverfront and Statue of Unity.  The airline was negotiating for more sea planes which will be taken in lease. “We will add two more planes to this service soon. This is a commercial project, but the interest of the country will also be served, as we will connect tourist spots,” Three Adani-operated airports in India become ACI Asia-Pacific members Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific announced that three airports operated by the Adani Group of India have become members of the regional airport association. The airports are Adani Ahmedabad International Airport, Adani Lucknow International Airport and Adani Mangaluru International Airport. “We extend a warm welcome to our new members in India,” said Stefano Baronci, director general, ACI Asia-Pacific. “We look forward to meeting their needs through our wide-ranging portfolio of policy and guidance materials, training and advocacy.” Vistara Set To Have A Fleet Of 70 Aircraft By 2023 Vistara has been making good progress with the expansion of its fleet. Notably, it took on its first Boeing 787-9 aircraft this year. The Indian carrier currently has 42 jets at its facilities.
