Bengaluru Airport may soon witness music concerts, weddings

The Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru may soon become a popular destination for music concerts, weddings and even award shows as the operator, Bangalore International Airport Limited, is planning to develop a world-class arena at the airport premises. This arena will be the first of its kind to be built at an airport in India. This arena is part of the Rs 13,000 crore airport expansion project currently underway. The overhaul process includes a new terminal, widening of access roads, metro access, cargo bays as well as a new multi-modal transport hub. A BIAL spokesperson told TNM that the world-class concert arena will be developed on a 6.3-acre land parcel at the BLR Airport campus to cater to the growing demand for entertainment events in Bengaluru. Commenting on the upcoming services, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, Mr. Tewolde GebreMariam, remarked, “Ethiopian Airlines is a significant player in connecting India and Africa and beyond. The new four weekly flights will connect the important ICT hub city of Bengaluru to the ever-expanding Ethiopian network in addition to our twice daily flights each to the commercial city of Mumbai and the Capital New Delhi. The flights will also complement our existing dedicated freighter flights to/from Bengaluru. India to have 2,000 planes soon, says Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri The Indian aviation sector is witnessing phenomenal growth and there could be 2,000 planes in a short time, noted Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Fiji Airways and Air India Announce Codeshare Agreement Fiji Airways and Air India announced 1st August a new codeshare agreement which will provide convenient connections between three Indian cities and Fiji. From 1st of August, guests of both airlines can seamlessly connect from Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai to Fiji via Hong Kong or Singapore. The agreement will allow Fiji Airways to place its “FJ” designator code on flights operated by Air India from the three Indian cities to Hong Kong and Singapore. It also allows Air India to place its “AI” designator code of Fiji Airways flights from Hong Kong and Singapore to Nadi, Fiji. IndiGo ties up with global travel aggregator IndiGo announced that it had entered into a partnership with a global travel aggregator that will allow the latter's users to book tickets of the budget carrier's flights. The partnership with Skyscanner, one of the world's leading travel search engine, will not only enhance access to Indian destinations but also place them more prominently on the world map, according to IndiGo chief commercial officer William Butler. "This integration will be a gateway for Skyscanner users to access a wide network of domestic and international IndiGo flights at affordable fares, while we deliver an on-time, courteous and hassle-free experience," Butler said SpiceXpress connects 5 Indian cities with 737-700F freighter SpiceXpress, the cargo arm of SpiceJet, has launched a new narrowbody Boeing 737-700F domestic freighter service.
