Bokaro airport will be connected with Patna and Kolkata through Udan flights: AAI The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is developing the Bokaro airport to start scheduled flight operations and it will be connected to Patna and Kolkata through regional connectivity scheme Udan. At present, the Bokaro airport in Jharkhand is owned and managed by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and it handles non-scheduled flight operations of SAIL aircraft or VIP movements. Domestic flight capacity of airlines raised to 80% of pre-Covid levels The DGCA allowed domestic airlines to ramp up their operations to 80 per cent of pre-Covid approved capacity from the existing 70 per cent stipulation. This will help airlines in adding more flights on existing as well as new sectors as flight operations inch towards normalcy. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that on November 30, 2.52 lakh passengers travelled on domestic flights compared with 30,000 that travelled on May 25 — the day domestic passenger operations recommenced after staying shut for nearly two months due to Covid-19 lockdown. Jet Airways may resume operations in summer of 2021: Report Jet Airways, which was grounded in April 2019, might resume operations as a full-service airline in the summer of 2021. The airline will connect European and West Asian cities with Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, the Business Standard reported. Rolls Royce & Infosys Partners For Aviation Engineering In India Rolls-Royce and Infosys have entered into a strategic partnership in India. Both companies have signed a strategic partnership for sourcing, engineering and R&D Services for Rolls-Royce's Civil Aerospace business. Under the partnership, Rolls-Royce will share a significant part of its engineering centre capabilities for Civil Aerospace in Bengaluru to Infosys. The Indian firm will use Rolls-Royce product knowledge acquired through the partnership for the development of new products. Infosys will make use of its core engineering services, and digital transformation capabilities along with Rolls-Royce's product resources to provide a full range of high-end engineering and R&D services integrated with advanced digital service to Rolls-Royce. Singapore Airlines appoints Chen Sy Yen as General Manager for India Singapore Airlines announced the appointment of Chen Sy Yen as its new General Manager for India. In his new role as GM for India, Chen is entrusted with the responsibility of nurturing SIA''s global vision while ensuring the fruition of the company's business objectives in the country. SpiceJet partners cold-chain solution firms for Covid-19 vaccine transport SpiceJet has tied up with cold-chain solution providers as it prepares to transport Covid-19 vaccines. The airline's fleet comprises both passenger and cargo aircraft, which includes five Boeing 737 and 3 Bombardier Q 400 freighters. Chairman Ajay Singh stated "We have been preparing for the humongous task of transporting medicines, vaccines, blood samples, and temperature-sensitive cargo. We have tied up with global leaders in cold-chain solutions, offering active and passive packaging with dedicated equipment to perform seamless cold chain operations."
