Lessor SMBC Posts 7.5% Interim Profit Growth SMBC Aviation Capital has posted a $168 million first-half pre-tax profit, up 7.5% on the prior year, and is preparing for a $1 billion capital boost over the coming weeks. SMBC Aviation Capital CEO Peter Barrett said that the company delivered a “solid half-year performance” for the six-month period to Sept. 30, driven by the company’s core operating-lease business. SMBC has placed aircraft that it has scheduled for delivery in 2018 and 2019. SMBC Aviation Capital to lease two A320 aircraft to LaudaMotion Laudamotion announced 21 November the completion of a transaction with SMBC Aviation Capital to lease two Airbus A320 aircraft on behalf of LaudaMotion. The aircraft (MSN 2924 and 2928) are to be leased to LaudaMotion GmbH as part of a series of initiatives to support LaudaMotion’s continued growth.
