GECAS, Milestone Aviation open new office in Sydney, Australia
Milestone Aviation Group (Milestone) and GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) has opened a new office in Sydney, Australia, effective May 1, 2017. With the opening of the new location, Milestone and GECAS are available locally to better support Australian customers with the company’s full suite of helicopter and commercial aircraft financing products.
Maples and Calder Advises Avolon on US$10bn Acquisition
Maples and Calder recently assisted aircraft leasing company Avolon Holdings Limited in connection with its US$10 billion acquisition of the aircraft leasing business of CIT Group Inc. The acquisition has doubled the scale of Avolon's business to create the third largest aircraft leasing platform in the world, with a combined fleet of 868 aircraft valued at over US$43 billion.

SMBC Aviation Capital had its credit ratings upgraded to ‘A-’ from ‘BBB+’ by Fitch Ratings.
SMBC Aviation Capital announced 11 May that its credit ratings have been upgraded to ‘A-’ from ‘BBB+’ by Fitch Ratings. The upgrade reflects Fitch’s recognition of SMBC Aviation Capital’s proven track record of profitability and integrated strategy with its majority shareholder Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc. (SMFG), in its five years of ownership.
SKY Leasing Accepts Ownership of 20th Aircraft with Airberlin A320-200
SKY Aviation Leasing International Limited announced 17 May the ownership of an Airbus A320-200 aircraft. The DOM 2009 aircraft is on long-term lease with airberlin and is the second of three transactions with the third estimated to close over the summer. The transaction marks SKY’s 20th aircraft, all of which were completed over the last twelve months.
