Lessor Avolon’s fleet up 6.2% in 2018 first quarter
Irish lessor Avolon closed out the first quarter of 2018 with an owned and managed fleet comprising 570 aircraft, with commitments for a further 333 aircraft, bringing its total fleet to 903, up 6.2% from 2017Q1. The lessor delivered six new aircraft during the quarter, including four Boeing 787-9s and an Airbus A320neo for Air India. 13 aircraft were transitioned to secondary leases, five aircraft were sold, and 21 lease transactions were completed during the quarter.
NAC delivered one Embraer E190, MSN 19000461, to LLC “IKAR” on lease
Nordic Aviation Capital announced 25 April the delivery of one Embraer E190, MSN 19000461, to LLC “IKAR” (d.b.a. Pegas Fly) on lease. Mr Oguz Senol Yuce Vice Chairman of LLC “IKAR” said “2018 is the year of expansion and development of our fleet. Pegas Fly has successfully managed all challenges facing the airlines in Russia for the past few years and is aiming for continued success. Building strong commercial relations with leading aircraft lessors such as NAC is certainly a part of this path.”
SMBC Aviation Capital signs six aircraft deal with S7 Airlines
SMBC Aviation Capital announced 25 April an agreement for the placement of six (6) A320 neo aircraft which includes a Pre-Delivery Payment (“PDP)” facility for all six aircraft. The aircraft, which are powered by Pratt & Whitney engines are part of SMBC Aviation Capital’s order book and are scheduled to deliver in 2020. Speaking on the conclusion of the transaction Peter Barrett, CEO, SMBC Aviation Capital said, “We are very pleased to conclude this transaction with Russia’s largest domestic carrier, S7 Airlines which continues to expand its network across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. This deal from our order book demonstrates our capabilities in providing innovative fleet solutions to our customers.”
Open Call for the Third Avolon Global Studio Award
Avolon announced 24 April the opening of applications for the third Avolon Global Studio Award in partnership with the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin, Ireland. This year, the AGSA will offer two residencies both lasting three months at the prestigious RHA Gallery. The winner of this life-changing opportunity will be given their own studio, an apartment in the heart of Dublin, a monthly stipend and return flights, during the three-month residency. Avolon is seeking applications from full-time artists residing in India, working in the medium of paint to apply. The AGSA gives artists the time to think, work and create art in an uninhibited and friendly environment. Winners are encouraged to discover Dublin’s art scene and explore Ireland’s beautiful sites during their stay.
Waypoint Leasing Places H135 Helicopter with ALT in Germany
Waypoint Leasing (Ireland) Limited announced 25 April that it recently completed a lease transaction for one H135 helicopter to ADAC Luftfahrt Technik GmbH (“ALT”) in Germany to be used for pilot training. The lease transaction marks Waypoint’s seventh H135 delivery, as well as its first transaction with ALT.
