Avolon Delivers One Airbus A321neo To Hawaiian Airlines
Avolon announced 19 July the delivery of one Airbus A321neo aircraft to Hawaiian Airlines. This is the second Avolon aircraft on lease to Hawaiian Airlines
Boeing, GECAS Announce Agreement for 35 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters
Boeing and GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) announced that they have reached an agreement for 35 additional 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters at the 2018 Farnborough International Airshow. The deal, which includes 20 firm orders and an option for 15 more, would take GECAS' 737-800BCF order book from 15 to 50 and enable GECAS to serve the growing express air cargo market. The commercial aircraft leasing and financing arm of General Electric is the launch customer of the new 737-800BCF. It took delivery of the first converted jet in April and leased it to a Swedish cargo carrier.
GECAS Announces Portfolio Sale and Financing Agreement
GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) and Oz Management have closed on an aircraft portfolio purchase, STARR 2018, structured with the inclusion of a dedicated asset manager for equity investors. The transaction will allow GECAS to sell a portfolio of aircraft to Start Ltd., which is financing the acquisition through 144A debt and equity. The portfolio includes 24 in-production Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The aircraft are on lease to 16 airlines in 15 countries with a total appraised value of approximately $700 million. A multi-year agreement between GECAS and an Oz affiliate will allow the affiliate to serve as an asset manager for current and potential future transactions.

Nordic Aviation Capital and GE Sign MOU for TrueChoice Flight Hour for CF34-10E Engines
Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) and GE Aviation signed a memorandum of understanding for a ten-year TrueChoiceTM Flight Hour agreement for its CF34-10E engines fleet. Under the agreement, NAC will offer GE Aviation-provided maintenance, repair and overhaul services to its CF34-10E lessees.
SMBC Delivers First Airbus A350 XWB to Philippine Airlines
SMBC Aviation Capital announced 13 July that Philippine Airlines (PAL) has added its first Airbus A350 XWB MSN 0221 to its fleet. The A350-900 XWB, which is the first of two to be delivered to Philippine Airlines on sale and leaseback includes the financing of Pre-Delivery Payments. SMBC Aviation Capital, together with Airbus and Philippine Airlines celebrated receipt of the aircraft at the Airbus facility in Toulouse. The aircraft will now be deployed on the airline’s long-haul routes including between Manila and New York, thus allowing the airline to fly all year round between the two destinations.
SMBC Aviation Capital sponsors Éirloop
SMBC Aviation Capital announced its sponsorship of Éirloop, Ireland’s entry in Elon Musk’s SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition. This competition has been dubbed the ‘Olympics of Engineering and Innovation’. Éirloop is a cross-university, cross-disciplinary team of undergraduate students who are taking on the challenge of building a pod to run on the Hyperloop test track at SpaceX’s headquarters in California. They are taking on teams from around the world with enormous budgets, big name industrial backers, made up of PhD students who have competed several times before with highly developed pods. The competition started on 22nd July and SMBC Aviation Capital is proudly supporting Éirloop’s bid to win this prestigious event. Commenting on the initiative, Nick Hazeldine, Head of Innovation at SMBC Aviation Capital said, “We are delighted to sponsor Éirloop, an initiative which has the potential to revolutionise travel between cities around the world and puts the engineering skills of Ireland’s brightest students on a global stage. We wish the very best of luck to this inspirational team of students in their first attempt at competing on SpaceX’s Hyperloop test track.”
