ALI welcomes aviation leaders report 2019

CALC's Dublin Office Moves to City Center New Premises CALC announced 28 January the relocation of its Dublin Office to its self-owned premises at 35 Fitzwilliam Place Dublin 2 to accommodate its continued overseas business growth. CALC has been rooted in Dublin for four years, which acts as its pivot of global aircraft leasing business since CALC commenced its globalization initiative in 2015. Mr. Mike Poon, Chief Executive Officer of CALC, said, "We're excited to relocate our office premises in Dublin. Dublin has entrenched its reputation as an established global hub for aircraft leasing with its competitive corporation tax regime, double tax treaty network and effective legal and regulatory framework, laying a solid infrastructure for ample growth potential. As we continue to grow our global outreach initiative, the new office here will enhance the Group’s network and connections with aviation partners from all over the world, further strengthening our position in the industry globally." Goshawk takes delivery of two 737-MAX8 on lease to SpiceJet Goshawk announced 29 January the delivery of two Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft to SpiceJet. Peter Watson, Chief Commercial Officer at Goshawk commented “We are delighted to add SpiceJet to Goshawk’s growing list of customers. The addition of these two Boeing 737 MAX aircraft further enhances Goshawk’s portfolio of young, liquid aircraft. We look forward to working with SpiceJet and building on our relationship over the coming years.’ Nordic Aviation Capital formally welcomes GIC as a new shareholder Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) announced 29 January that it welcomed GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, as a new shareholder. The transaction comprises a partial sale by the existing shareholders and the injection of new capital to further strengthen NAC’s balance sheet and solidify its position as the global leader in regional aircraft leasing. EQT VI will remain the largest shareholder. Martin Møller also remains a significant shareholder and continues as Chairman. Commenting on the transaction, Martin Moller, Chairman of the Board said, “Since we partnered with EQT over three years ago, NAC has continued on its growth journey. We are now the fifth largest leasing company in the world with a fleet of 480 aircraft and an asset base of $8.3 billion. We have been deliberate in our choice of partner, GIC is one of the most sophisticated investors, and this landmark transaction will provide a unique opportunity for further growth and expansion with a strategic partner who has significant aircraft leasing experience. We look forward to advancing the partnership and accelerating the growth of the business.” SMBC chief predicts rise of smaller transatlantic aircraft Passengers should get used to crossing the Atlantic on narrowbody, single-aisle aircraft, as more airlines opt to fill lower-demand routes with jets such as Boeing's new 737 variants, said Peter Barret CEO SMBC Aviation in an Irish Independent interview 22 January. Peter said “It will become an increasing factor, but it's unlikely to become dominant. The public likes flying point-to-point. It's not going to work for every route, but I certainly think we'll be seeing more of that". TrueNoord leases five new ATR 72-600s to IndiGo TrueNoord announced 30 January it has leased five new ATR 72-600s to InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo). The first two aircraft were delivered at the end of December with the remaining three integrating with the fleet in the coming months. Anne-Bart Tieleman, CEO – TrueNoord, commented: “These brand new ATR 72-600s delivered to IndiGo are the first regional aircraft delivered into India by TrueNoord, so it is an important milestone for us. They bring our portfolio of new ATRs to nine and will increase our fleet of regional aircraft to 34. The past few months have been exciting times for TrueNoord as we concentrate on our long term strategy and continue to expand our strong portfolio of young regional aircraft with a good global spread and leased to experienced, market leading operators.
