Boeing India Will Lead South Asia in market growth
Boeing released its latest Commercial Market Outlook (CMO) during Wings India 2024 forecasting the South Asia region will become the fastest-growing commercial aviation market with more than 8% annual traffic growth over the next 20 years. The reported stated carriers will require more than 2,700 new airplanes to address growth and fleet replacement driven by a strong economy, India’s rapidly expanding middle class will drive growth in regional air travel. Boeing vice president of Commercial Marketing Darren Hulst said “Indian low-cost carriers continue to stimulate demand and connect emerging regions with low fares, holding nearly a 90% share of all domestic seats in the region. This reflects the rapid pace of the region’s recovery and economic activity, as traffic and capacity now exceed pre-pandemic levels.”
IndiGo announces partnership with CSTPL
IndiGo announced the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CAE Simulation Training Private Limited (CSTPL) to provide Flight Crew Training for its fleet of ATR72-600 aircraft. Under this agreement, CSTPL will install a Full Flight Simulator (FFS) for ATR aircraft and provide exclusive simulator training facilities for IndiGo’s ATR pilots based in Bengaluru. IndiGo Senior Vice President- Flight Operations, Captain Ashim Mittra said, “We are proud to announce our partnership with CSTPL, to support our ATR pilot training programme. Through this partnership, the enhanced ATR pilot training programme will not only facilitate the upskilling of our pilots but also help us to reach new horizons. This endeavour aligns seamlessly with the Government of India’s UDAN (“Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik”) mission, fortifying our commitment to connecting with smaller and medium-sized towns and cities.

Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) announced it has been formally recognised as the ‘Best Airport of the Year’ at Wings India Awards 2024. The award has been passed on a number of factors including operational excellence, seamless passenger experience, unwavering environmental stewardship, and use of cutting-edge information technology. Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) enjoyed a significant passenger rebound in 2023, handling a total of 37.2 million passengers, of which, 32.7 million were domestic passengers and 4.5 million passengers.
