AAR awarded new additional Worldwide Aviation Support Services site AAR received notification 18 March from the Department of State awarding the company a new site under the Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program. Under the task order, the new site in Costa Rica will provide host nation aviation training. AAR was originally awarded the single award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract in September of 2016. Allegiant Air selects SR Technics as its exclusive CFM56-5B maintenance provider SR Technics announced 20 March signature of a three-year contract with Allegiant Air to service its fleet of CFM56-5B engines. Allegiant Air is the ninth largest commercial airline in the USA. It currently has a fleet of 80 Airbus A319/A320 but expects to be flying 93 aircraft by the end of 2019.The airline has already sent the first three engines to Zurich for the first of approximately 50 CFM56 shop visits over the term of the contract. The three-year deal includes an optional two-year extension. Boeing Announces Trio of Leadership Moves To Accelerate Key Global Partnerships and Capabilities Boeing announced 20 March three leadership moves aimed at further strengthening the company's global presence and partnerships. Marc Allen named senior vice president of Boeing and president of Embraer Partnership and Group Operations. Sir Michael Arthur named president of Boeing International and John Slattery announced as president and chief executive officer of the commercial aviation and services joint venture between Boeing and Embraer. ExpressJet Airlines, a United Express Carrier, and IAM Reach Tentative Agreement Covering Flight Attendants ExpressJet Airlines announced 18 March that it has reached a tentative agreement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) for a four-year contract covering the company's more than 650 flight attendants. The agreement, upon ratification, will unite employees currently covered by two separate agreements into a single workgroup, providing flight attendants the flexibility to work any aircraft across the ExpressJet (XJT) network. Joramco obtains the A320neo FAA approval Joramco announced 20 March the addition of the A320neo to its FAA approval after adding this capability to the EASA approval last month. Mr. Jeff Wilkinson, Joramco’s CEO commented “We are delighted to announce the addition of the A320neo to the FAA scope of work after obtaining the EASA approval last month, these additions come in line with the vision of the majority shareholder, DAE, who are capitalizing on its current status and investing to expand Joramco’s services”. Mesa Air Group Names New Vice President of United Express Operations Mesa Air Group 20 March named Mark Ade as its new Vice President of United Express Operations. Ade brings 30 years of industry experience and over 15 years of experience in airline operations. He will oversee the company's United Express operations and report directly to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Brad Rich. Spirit AeroSystems Receives EU Clearance for Asco Acquisition Spirit AeroSystems announced 20 March it is pleased that the European Commission has cleared the company's planned acquisition of Asco Industries following the Commission's Phase One review. Swoop adds new service between Kelowna and Las Vegas Swoop announced 19 March new service between Kelowna, BC and Las Vegas, NV. The twice weekly service from Kelowna International Airport (YLW) to McCarran International Airport (LAS) begins June 27, 2019 through October 26, 2019. Universal Asset Management Acquires Airbus 320-200 Universal Asset Management, Inc. (UAM) announced 22 March it has acquired an Airbus 320-200 airframe MSN (1497) formerly operated by Shaheen Air.
