Amazon purchases 11 aircraft from Delta and WestJet to join Amazon Air’s network Amazon made its first-ever purchase of Boeing 767-300 aircraft, expanding its fleet to continue to serve customers. The purchase includes 11 aircraft, which will join the network by 2022. The four aircraft purchased from WestJet in March are currently undergoing passenger-to-cargo conversion and will join Amazon Air’s network in 2021. The seven aircraft purchased from Delta will enter Amazon’s air cargo network in 2022. Aviation Capital Group Announces Early Redemption of Senior Notes Aviation Capital Group LLC announced that it will redeem all $750 million of the principal amount outstanding of its 6.750% Senior Notes due 2021. The redemption date has been set for 3 February 2021. FAA Announces Final Rule to Facilitate the Reintroduction of Civil Supersonic Flight The U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a final rule to facilitate the safe development of civil supersonic aircraft. The rule streamlines and clarifies procedures to obtain FAA approval for supersonic flight testing in the United States. This rule will help ensure that companies developing these aircraft clearly understand the process for gaining FAA approval to conduct flight testing, which is a key step in ultimately bringing their products to market. Jet MS adds Embraer ERJ135/145 and Legacy 600/650 to its capabilities Jet Maintenance Solutions (JET MS) announced it has received approval to conduct MRO services on Embraer ERJ135, Embraer ERJ145, Embraer Legacy 600 and Embraer Legacy 650 aircraft. TAT Technologies Reports signing a new strategic contract with Honeywell USA TAT Technologies announced that its fully owned subsidiary, TAT Piedmont Aviation and Honeywell International, had entered into a 10-year agreement for an exclusive worldwide Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) rental services for OEM authorized GTCP331-500 engine. This engine is installed in all Boeing 777 aircraft around the world. Under this contract TAT-Piedmont will offer rental services to airlines who are operating Boeing's 777 aircraft and will serve on behalf of Honeywell for any rental of Honeywell GTCP331-500 APUs to all of Honeywell's customers on an exclusive basis. As part of this agreement, TAT-Piedmont acquired Honeywell's GTCP331-500 APU rental bank for approximately $6.5 million. WestJet announces 737 MAX return-to-service plan WestJet announced its intent to return its fleet of 737 MAX aircraft to passenger service in a phased and transparent approach. The airline's plans follow an announcement from Transport Canada (TC) on December 17, 2020 where TC safety experts validated the aircraft design changes and outlined requirements for Canadian carriers.
