Alaska Air Cargo Introduces Innovative In-Seat Containers to Carry More Freight Alaska Air Cargo is introducing a new in-seat package stowage system to allow full use of an Alaska Airlines passenger aircraft in a cargo-only configuration. As the North American launch customer for HAECO Cabin Solutions’ design, the interior package stowage containers allow Alaska Air Cargo to fill the main cabin passenger seats with an additional 13,500 pounds of cargo on top of what a passenger-only cargo flight can carry. This innovative, FAA-approved design allows cargo personnel to use all available space on the main deck for essential goods like mail, medical equipment, e-commerce packages and other freight. Boeing Forecasts Long-term Resilience and Return to Growth for Middle East Aviation Sector Boeing anticipates demand for 2,945 new airplanes in the Middle East valued at $685 billion over the next two decades, as the industry recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic in the medium and long term. The projection is part of Boeing’s 2020 Commercial Market Outlook (CMO), an annual forecast of 20-year demand for commercial airplanes and services. “In recent decades, several airlines in the Middle East have leveraged their geographical position to connect rapidly growing Asian economies and the more mature markets in Europe,” said Darren Hulst, Boeing vice president of Commercial Marketing. “At the historical crossroads connecting Europe, Africa and Asia, the Middle East and its airlines will remain a critical hub of sixth-freedom passenger flows and cargo throughout the 20-year outlook.” Ethiopian Cargo Launches Trans-Pacific Cargo Flight Services, Incheon to Atlanta via Anchorage Ethiopian Cargo has launched Trans-Pacific routes, extending from Incheon to Atlanta via Anchorage effective from 9th November. Ethiopian operates B777-200F, one of the most technologically advanced aircraft on the route with reduced flight hour, seamless connectivity and better payload. Regarding the new service, Ethiopian Group CEO, Mr Tewolde GebreMariam, remarked, “We are delighted to have launched our newest freighter service to our Cargo Forwarder customers worldwide, extending from Incheon to Atlanta via Anchorage in the current global pandemic crisis where speed in the supply chain management is highly required to deliver urgently required goods. Spirit Airlines Offers Largest Route Map Between U.S. and Colombia as Inaugural Flights Touch Down in Bucaramanga and Barranquilla Spirit Airlines has launched new routes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to Bucaramanga (BGA) on and Barranquilla (BAQ). Spirit's service to Bucaramanga is the only nonstop flight connecting Colombia's Santander region with the United States. Adding Bucaramanga and Barranquilla to Spirit's network means the airline serves more Colombian cities nonstop than any other U.S. carrier.
