Piedmont Airlines grows fleet as Embraer 145's return to service
Air Lease Corporation (ALC) Leases 7 Airbus A321LR’s to Air Astana
Air Astana Group announced it signed an agreement with Air Lease Corporation (ALC) for the operating lease of seven Airbus A321neo LR aircraft following the Board approval. The deliveries will commence from 2026. The ALC agreement supports the Group’s plans to expand the fleet to 80 aircraft by the end of 2028.
Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) Leases Two Boeing 767s to Georgian Airways
Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) announced that its leasing subsidiary Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM) recently delivered two Boeing 767-300 aircraft to Georgian Airways LLC of Tbilisi, Georgia under multi-year leases. One of the two Boeing 767-300s is a passenger aircraft delivered in June, while the other is a newly converted freighter delivered in July. Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) CEO Mike Berge, said "We are excited to grow capacity with our existing customers, as it validates the value ATSG brings to the leasing market. Medium widebody freighters like the Boeing 767 and Airbus A330 are ideal for cargo airlines based in Eastern Europe and Western Asia. The geographic location of Tbilisi is an excellent mid-point for goods flowing out of China and ultimately destined for Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East."
Boeing Appoints Kelly Ortberg as CEO & President
Boeing announced that its Board of Directors has elected Robert K. "Kelly" Ortberg as the company's new president and chief executive officer, effective August 8, 2024. Ortberg will also serve on Boeing's Board of Directors. Boeing President & CEO Robert K. "Kelly" Ortberg said "I'm extremely honored and humbled to join this iconic company. Boeing has a tremendous and rich history as a leader and pioneer in our industry, and I'm committed to working together with the more than 170,000 dedicated employees of the company to continue that tradition, with safety and quality at the forefront. There is much work to be done, and I'm looking forward to getting started."

To support the need for increased lines of flying on the American Airlines network. Piedmont announced Embraer E145s have begun to emerge from storage on their way to join the carrier’s growing fleet. Two aircraft per month will leave storage at Pinal Airpark (MZJ) in Marana, Arizona, through February 2025, increasing the Piedmont fleet to 70 aircraft. Piedmont Vice President of Maintenance and Engineering Bill Arndt, said “Bringing our first plane out of long-term storage is a big deal. The planes that are planned to leave storage will first move through heavy check and conformity before joining the fleet. Bringing parked aircraft from storage and returning them to the line is a sure sign of recovery and growth for Piedmont. We are excited to be on our way to flying 70 aircraft and supporting the American Airlines network and our customers.”
