Air Canada and Air Baltic announce code-share agreement
Air Canada and Air Baltic announced a codeshare partnership, effective from 23 October. airBaltic will add its code (BT) to Air Canada-operated routes from Toronto to Amsterdam and Copenhagen. Air Canada will place its code (AC) on 10 airBaltic-operated routes from Riga Hub to Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Munich, Stockholm, from Tallinn to Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen, and Munich, and from Vilnius to Amsterdam. Air Canada Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning, Mark Galardo said “Air Canada is very pleased to expand its longstanding relationship with airBaltic to enable greater connectivity and customer convenience when travelling between Canada and Northern Europe. This new codeshare partnership serves the strong commercial ties between Canada and the Baltic region and builds on Air Canada's global growth strategy by leveraging its strong, non-stop network from Canada to Scandinavia and key European gateways, including Amsterdam.”
Embraer to invest up to $70 million in new MRO facilities in Texas
Embraer announced the expansion and investment in the United States of its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services network to support the growing fleet of E-Jets with the opening of a new Embraer owned service centre at the Perot Field Alliance Airport, in Fort Worth, Texas. The OEM in partnership with the City of Fort Worth, Denton County and the State of Texas, Embraer expects to begin operations in an existing hangar in the beginning of the second quarter of 2025, while building a second hangar that should be concluded by 2027. The new facilities will enable Embraer’s capacity to serve the E-Jets customers will increase by 53% in the US. The investment will reach up to $70 million and is expected to create approximately 250 new aviation jobs in Texas.
Embraer Services & Support president and CEO, Carlos Naufel stated “We are excited to receive the final approval for this important expansion of our MRO business that supports our continued investment in the US market. We have a long-standing relationship with the State of Texas and look forward to our partnership with Hillwood at Alliance, and the opening of this new service center will create hundreds of highly skilled jobs in a vital segment for the aviation industry.”
Eve Air Mobility Secures $88 million from BNDES
Eve Air Mobility announced that the company secured a $88 million loan agreement with Brazil’s National Development Bank (BNDES) to fund the development of the company’s electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft production facility in Taubaté, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The new funding agreement is structured by sub-credits from domestic and international sources, including the bank’s foreign currency funds, and a maturity of 16 years. Eve boasts the industry's largest backlog with letters of intent (LOI) for 2,900 eVTOLs from 30 customers in 13 countries, representing a potential $14.5 billion in sales revenue.
Eve CEO Johann Bordais stated "We are profoundly grateful for the continued support and confidence that BNDES has shown in Eve as we advance in our mission to reimagine mobility through efficient and sustainable urban flight experiences. This financing will be instrumental in setting up our eVTOL manufacturing facility, which will be not only the first of its kind in Brazil but also powered by clean, renewable energy, aligned with our commitment to sustainability."
PSA Airlines adds 14 CRJ900NG aircraft
PSA Airlines announced it is adding 14 CRJ900NG (NextGen) aircraft to its fleet. The aircraft are being purchased by American and will be leased to PSA. They will be delivered and inducted in phases commencing this month. PSA Airlines President and CEO Dion Flannery, said “PSA is on a well-planned growth trajectory that involves more team members flying more aircraft and customers as we continue to expand and enhance our operation. This year, we fully restored staffing, resurrected all our parked aircraft and inducted the last of the seven aircraft as part of a previous agreement. Now, we’re prepared for the next phase of growth with the addition of these 14 NextGen CRJ900s.”
