Air Lease Corporation Announces Delivery of New Boeing 787-9 Aircraft to Air Tahiti Nui Air Lease Corporation announced 8 October the delivery of the first of two new Boeing 787-9 aircraft on long-term lease to Air Tahiti Nui. This Dreamliner aircraft is from ALC’s order book with Boeing and is powered by GEnx-1B74/75 engines. Steven F. Udvar-Házy, Executive Chairman of Air Lease Corporation said “We are pleased to announce this milestone delivery of ALC’s first of two new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to our friends at Air Tahiti Nui. This aircraft and the second one to follow in early 2019 will bring a new dimension of long-range travel experience for Air Tahiti Nui’s customers, with increased efficiency, better economics and comfort compared to the Airbus A340 aircraft they are replacing”. Boeing Delivers SpiceJet's First 737 MAX Airplane Boeing and SpiceJet 12 October celebrated the delivery of the carrier's first 737 MAX 8. The airline plans to use the 737 MAX to expand and standardize its fleet, while leveraging the super-efficient jet to reduce fuel costs per airplane by $1.5 million a year. This is the first of up to 205 737 MAX airplanes SpiceJet has announced with Boeing. SpiceJet's new 737 MAX airplanes arrive at a time when India's commercial aviation market continues to grow at significant rates. Delta Airlines will be first US Airline to take delivery of Airbus A220 Delta will be the first U.S. airline to take delivery of the A220, formerly known as the "C Series," which will feature a modern interior with a spacious, widebody feel, and best-in-class fuel performance. The inaugural Airbus A220-100 flights are set to depart on Jan. 31, 2019, from Delta's hub at New York's LaGuardia airport to its growing operation at Boston Logan International, and from LaGuardia to top business destination Dallas/Ft. Worth. Delta S.V.P.​ and Chief Marketing Officer Tim Mapes said “This aircraft is the culmination of years of listening to our customers and responding with design innovations that continue to improve Delta's domestic in-flight experience. From high-resolution seat-back entertainment screens to the widest Main Cabin seats in our fleet, the A220 will deliver an experience our customers will look forward to every time they fly”. JetBlue Advances Focus City Strategy with Network Reallocation, Including New Service in Guayaquil, Ecuador JetBlue announced 9 October a series of network changes that will advance its strategy in multiple focus cities, making the airline even more relevant in its key markets and ensuring its network is optimized to meet customer demand. The network changes are also key to achieving the airline’s margin commitments and delivering long-term value to its shareholders. The reallocation of service will result in a new JetBlue city in Ecuador, new service between current JetBlue cities, and additional flights on popular routes. To free up aircraft time for the introduction of the new flying, JetBlue will reduce underperforming services. Norwegian now largest non-US airline serving New York Norwegian, has become the largest non-U.S. airline on transatlantic routes to and from the New York area based on passenger numbers. The airline carried 1.67 million international passengers to and from three of New York City’s airports according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s most recent traffic report, surpassing British Airways, which carried 1.63 million, to reach the top spot. Pallas Aviation Announced as Launch Operator for Lockheed Martin LM-100J Commercial Freighter Lockheed Martin 11 October announced Pallas Aviation as the first LM-100J commercial freighter operator. The LM-100J is a production variant of the proven C-130J Super Hercules. Pallas Aviation will provide management services and operational control of two LM-100J aircraft requiring heavy-lift/oversized cargo capability into and out of unconventional airports and remote locations for a specific set of clients in multiple industries. Pallas will operate its LM‑100Js out of Fort Worth Alliance Airport in Texas. Singapore Airlines Begins U.S. Expansion With Launch Of Newark-Singapore Nonstop Service Singapore Airlines today re-launched its signature New York (EWR)-Singapore nonstop service, reclaiming the record for the world’s longest commercial nonstop flight at a scheduled 18:45 minutes duration operated by the Airbus A350-900ULR. Spirit Airlines Announces New Orlando Crew Base Spirit Airlines announced 4 October the opening of a new Orlando Crew Base will open on 1 December and will start with nearly 150 crew. This move will help support Spirit’s massive international expansion in Orlando, adding to the 150 airport services jobs recently created to support the growth. Triumph Awarded Five-Year Contract with National Carrier for Component MRO Work Triumph Group, Inc announced 11 October that it was awarded a five-year contract for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) work on CFM56-7B nacelle components for the 737NG aircraft operated by a U.S. airline operator. Under the contract Triumph Product Support will service thrust reversers, fan cowls and inlet cowls on the CFM56-7B engines on the carrier’s 737NG fleet.
