Atlas Air Worldwide Delivers 20th 767-300 Freighter To Amazon Atlas Air Worldwide announced 12 November the delivery of its twentieth B767-300 converted freighter to Amazon. The aircraft, which bears tail number N1487A, entered into Amazon’s domestic air network ahead of the peak holiday season to serve its growing customer demand. Atlas Air CEO William J. Flynn said “E-commerce is the fastest growing air cargo segment, and we are excited to continue our partnership with Amazon as it delivers innovative service to its customers.” Aviation Capital Group Announces Delivery of Vietnam Airlines’ first Airbus A321neo Aircraft Aviation Capital Group LLC announced 12 November the delivery of first Airbus A321neo to Vietnam Airlines. The aircraft is on a long-term lease to Vietnam Airlines and is the first of six Airbus A321neos to be delivered from ACG’s orderbook and leased to Vietnam Airlines. Cape Air sings interline with Qatar Airways Qatar Airways has partnered with U.S.-based airline Cape Air to provide passengers seamless travel and greater connectivity when traveling between the U.S. and to more than 150 destinations. The new interline agreement taking effect from November 12, 2018, marks more than 10 successful years of flights to the U.S. The partnership allows Qatar Airways passengers to tap into Cape Air’s growing short-haul regional network that currently serves 34 cities including popular U.S. vacation destinations such as Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. Delta orders 10 additional A330-900neos to replace older widebody jets, facilitate measured growth Delta Air Lines is adding 10 Airbus 330-900neo aircraft to its fleet under an agreement with Airbus and Rolls-Royce, expanding its order of the next-generation widebody jet from 25 to 35. The first delivery of the state-of-the-art aircraft, which is powered by next-generation and fuel-efficient engine technology, is expected next year. “Expanding our A330 order book not only ensures that Delta’s near-to-medium-term widebody needs are taken care of, but also drives our strategic, easured international growth,” said Gil West, Delta’s Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “The next-generation engine technology from Rolls-Royce which powers the 330neo provides compelling operating economics, superior fuel performance and the range and coverage for our transoceanic needs going forward.” GE’s Original Flying Testbed touches down at its new home at the Pima Air & Space Museum GE Aviation’s original Boeing 747 Flying Testbed aircraft made its final flight on 15 November from the Flight Test Operation in Victorville, California to the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona. The donated aircraft will join more than 350 historical aircraft at the museum that is one of the largest non-government funded aviation and space museums in the world. The aircraft was the oldest 747 in active service, rolling off the assembly line on October 17, 1969 and making its first flight with Pan American World Airlines on March 3, 1970. GE Aviation acquired the aircraft in 1992 after Pan Am flew the aircraft called the Clipper Ocean Spray for 21 years. The aircraft flew a total of 90,000 hours and 19,251 cycles. The aircraft provided critical flight data on more than 11 distinct engine models and 39 engine builds, including widebody engines likes the GE90, GEnx and the Engine Alliance GP7200, CF34 engines for regional jets, narrow body engines like CFM56 and LEAP, and the Passport for business aviation. Higher Fuel Prices Wipe Out U.S. Airlines' Revenue Gains Increases in jet fuel expenses completely offset the improvement in passenger revenues the nine publicly traded U.S. passenger airlines achieved in the first nine months of 2018, reported Airlines for America (A4A) v-p and chief economist John Heimlich . Rolls-Royce Wins Trent 7000 Order From Delta Air Lines Rolls-Royce has won an order from Delta Air Lines for Trent 7000 engines to power ten Airbus A330-900 aircraft. The order also includes Rolls-Royce’s flagship TotalCare® long term service support. The Trent 7000 is the latest member of the successful Rolls-Royce Trent engine family and the exclusive powerplant for the A330neo. The next-generation engine technology from Rolls-Royce which powers the A330neo provides compelling operating economics, superior fuel performance and the range and coverage for our transoceanic needs going forward.” United Airlines Announces Boeing 787-10 Aircraft will Operate Between New York/Newark and Six European Destinations United Airlines announced 14 November it will operate its newest Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner on six trans-Atlantic routes from its New York/Newark hub beginning in March 2019 to Barcelona, Brussels, Dublin, Frankfurt, Paris and Tel Aviv. United was the first North American airline to take delivery of the 787-10, and is also the first airline in the world to have the entire family of Boeing's 787-8, 787-9 and 787-10 Dreamliners in its fleet.
