Airlines Not Yet Worried About New U.S.-Cuba Travel Policy The Trump administration’s new rules on U.S. citizens’ travel to Cuba are not expected to affect recently reestablished commercial flights to the Caribbean island—at least for now. The administration said recently it will be stricter about the categories of U.S. citizens permitted to travel to Cuba but has not banned visits there. Avianca Brasil commences its first US passenger route in Miami Avianca Brasil has commenced its daily nonstop passenger flights between São Paulo (GRU) and Miami (MIA). This is the Brazilian airline’s first US passenger route and only its second outside of South America. Flights are serviced by Airbus A330-200 aircraft, which seats 238 passengers. Cargolux increases service between China and the US Cargolux Airlines added new service between Atlanta and Zhengzhou in China (CGO). The North American city becomes the second destination, after Chicago, to receive direct connections to and from Cargolux’s Chinese hub. International Passenger Screening ‘Improved’ Laptops will not be banned according to the Department of Homeland Security even as global international screening has been taken to another level. The international screening is affecting one of ten countries in the African and Middle Eastern airports to all USA bound flights that are ensuring improved checkpoint screening in addition to other unpublished security mechanisms. Kuwait Airways considers new US route as ban threatens travel Kuwait Airways Co is considering adding a flight to Washington, DC, or Chicago despite mounting US travel restrictions, as the Gulf carrier revives long-standing efforts to better compete with its more prosperous regional rivals. Its longest route serves New York via Shannon, Ireland operated by Boeing 777-300ER. Norwegian Air checks in for Shannon Airport’s maiden transatlantic flight Shannon Airport’s first transatlantic flight took off when Norwegian Air International commenced its operations for Stewart International in Orange County and Providence, Rhode Island. Giving Shannon its largest number of transatlantic destinations for 17 years. The airport will add two weekly flights to Stewart International Airport, Orange County – just 90 minutes from New York – and Providence Green Airport, Rhode Island.
