BeauTech Partners with NAC to Purchase Air Canada’s E190 Fleet Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) has entered into an agreement with BeauTech Power Systems, LLC (BeauTech) for the purchase of 25 Embraer E190 aircraft which BeauTech has arranged to purchase from Air Canada. The 25 aircraft have short lease back periods with Air Canada over the forthcoming 18 months. This transaction, which is expected to close by the end of August 2018, serves to further establish NAC’s position as one of the largest lessors in the regional jet and turboprop sector. With the downstream acquisition of certain of the aircraft following their lease return, this deal also strengthens BeauTech’s position as a premier regional jet engine lessor, with one of the largest portfolios of CF34 lease engines in the global market. Boeing Forecasts Greatest Demand for Pilots, Technicians, Cabin Crew in Asia Pacific Region Boeing reports that the Asia Pacific region will have the greatest global demand for new civil aviation personnel over the next 20 years. The region is projected to account for 33 percent of the global need for pilots, 34 percent for technicians and 36 percent for cabin crew. The 2018 Boeing Pilot & Technician Outlook is an industry forecast of new aviation personnel demand. It is closely tied to projections for new airplane deliveries around the globe. As with personnel demand, the Asia Pacific region leads demand for new commercial airplane deliveries over the next 20 years. Forty percent of all new passenger airplane deliveries in the next 20 years will be delivered to airlines in the Asia Pacific region. Boeing Welcomes Virgin Australia as Newest 737 MAX 10 Customer Boeing and the Virgin Australia Group announced the airline is adding the largest and most efficient member of the 737 MAX family to its growing single-aisle fleet. The carrier has converted ten orders for the 737 MAX 8 for the larger MAX 10 variant. The airline, which has a number of 737 MAX 8s on order, said it saw the value of adding the MAX 10 to the mix as the aircraft will provide additional capacity and flexibility. Virgin Australia Group Chief Financial Officer Geoff Smith said, "We are pleased to be welcoming the 737 MAX 10 aircraft into our expanding fleet in 2022. The addition of the 737 MAX 10 will provide us with additional flexibility and capability to support our network and operations. We are proud to become Australia's first operator of the 737 MAX and we look forward to the opportunities that operating this type of aircraft will open up to us." Cayman Airways announces Denver as new tourism route for the Cayman Islands Cayman Airways Limited (CAL) announced the addition of new seasonal nonstop flights between Grand Cayman and Denver, Colorado, starting March 2, 2019. It will be the longest scheduled commercial flight the airline has ever operated, made possible by the upcoming arrival of the first of CAL’s four brand new Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. Ethiopian to Launch Cargo Flights to from Zaragoza Bogota via Miami Ethiopian Airlines announced that it is set to commence twice weekly freighter service to Bogota, Colombia as of August 29, 2018. The cargo service will depart from Zaragoza (Spain) and will fly to Bogota with a stopover in Miami, using the B777- Freighter. Primera Air will fly from Berlin to New York, Boston and Toronto Primera Air announced the launch of new routes from Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL) to New York, Boston and Toronto operated by the new Boeing MAX 9 fleet. Anastasija Visnakova, Chief Commercial Officer, Primera Air: “Berlin has been one of the key bases in our strategy, as it is one of the major European cities and we can bring a lot of tourists from North America, who otherwise could not afford to travel there. Besides, this will be a huge opportunity for German travellers to fly transatlantic for less.” United Airlines Announces New Nonstop Service to the Amalfi Coast, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands United Airlines announced new international routes in 2019 including daily, year-round service between San Francisco and Amsterdam and new nonstop seasonal summer service between New York/Newark and Naples, Italy, the only nonstop flight from North America to Naples, as well as New York/Newark and Prague, subject to government approval. United Airlines Names Gerry Laderman Chief Financial Officer United Airlines announced Gerry Laderman, a 30-year United veteran, has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer.
