AFI KLM E&M To Support Delta Air Lines A350 Fleet AFI KLM E&M announced its entered into an agreement with Delta Air Lines to provide component support for the U.S. carrier's entire Airbus A350 fleet as well as a reciprocal component agreement which takes advantage of Delta TechOps component capabilities. The maintenance solutions to be performed by AFI KLM E&M cover component repairs and access to its A350 spares pool, primarily in the U.S. and Europe. Airbus Delivers First U.S.-produced A320 to Spirit Airlines The first delivery of an A320 aircraft from the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility to Spirit Airlines has taken place in Mobile, Alabama, USA. The aircraft, delivered to Spirit Airlines, is the 37th overall delivery from the U.S. facility since production began in July 2015. The previous 36 aircraft were A321 aircraft, making this delivery another important milestone for Airbus. Airbus anticipates delivering four aircraft per month from the Mobile plant by the end of this year. Delta bolsters operations leadership in New York Delta Air Lines has named Henry Kuykendall to Senior Vice President – Airport Operations, Northeast, and promoted Stephanie Baldwin to Vice President – Airport Operations, JFK, to support the airline's continued dedication to New York and the Northeast region. In a new role for Delta, Kuykendall will oversee airline operations at New York's LaGuardia Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport. Embraer hopes for easing of US scope weight limits for E2 Embraer is pinning its hopes on an easing of regional jet weight limits during the next round of pilot contract negotiations at the US mainline carriers, as it looks for an in for its E-Jet E2 family. Hong Kong Airlines to Enter US Market Hong Kong Airlines has announced the introduction of nonstop passenger services between Los Angeles International Airport (IATA: LAX) and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) beginning December 18. The launch of the Los Angeles service marks Hong Kong Airlines’ entry into the Continental United States and further expands its network in North America. The airline will fly from LAX’s Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) using Airbus A350 aircraft¬, the first of the type scheduled to land at LAX. Singapore Airlines to expand North America footprint with Alaska Airlines codeshare deal In a move to expand Singapore Airlines' (SIA) presence in the North American market, the national carrier has signed an agreement with Alaska Airlines, it announced. In a news release, SIA said the agreement will take effect on Sep 27 this year, subject to regulatory approvals. Under the agreement, Singapore Airlines will add its "SQ" designator code to Alaska Airlines-operated flights on routes serving 18 destinations within the US and Mexico, it said. Southwest Airlines Announces Delivery Of Carrier's First Boeing 737 MAX 8 Southwest Airlines extended its legacy of aircraft innovation by taking delivery of the airline's first Boeing 737 MAX 8. Southwest is the first airline in the United States to receive the 737 MAX, and the carrier expects to take delivery of eight more MAX aircraft in the coming weeks with the intent to launch nine MAX aircraft into revenue service throughout its network on October 1. The airline expects to end 2017 with 14 MAX aircraft. US majors report further air cargo growth for July  US airlines Delta, American and United are reporting more air cargo growth in July after a strong start to the year. United, which carried the most freight of the three, says demand increased by 17.1 per cent year on year during the month to reach 279 million cargo ton miles (CTM).
