AELF Leases Third Boeing 737-800 to FlySafair
Aircraft Engine Lease Finance (AELF) has successfully leased a third Boeing 737-800 to South Africa’s FlySafair. The 2016 model, with MSN 40971, was acquired with financing from Investec Bank Limited. This move aligns with AELF’s strategy to expand its aircraft portfolio by securing 737-800s for long-term operating leases. AELF Chief Commercial Officer Joe Cirillo expressed satisfaction in supporting FlySafair’s fleet expansion while strengthening the company’s relationship with Investec, reinforcing its presence in the narrowbody leasing market.
Airbus A321XLR with Pratt & Whitney Engines Receives EASA Type Certification
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has officially granted Type Certification for the Airbus A321XLR powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. This follows the certification of the CFM LEAP-1A-powered variant in July 2024. The milestone paves the way for the first customer aircraft equipped with Pratt & Whitney engines to enter service later this year. Airbus Commercial Aircraft CEO Christian Scherer highlighted the aircraft’s ability to facilitate transatlantic operations with improved efficiency, offering airlines new city-to-city connections while enhancing passenger comfort.
Boeing Delivers 100th 767-300BCF to SF Airlines
Boeing has reached a significant milestone with the delivery of its 100th 767-300 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF) to SF Airlines, the world’s largest operator of this aircraft type. The milestone aircraft, featuring a commemorative emblem, was unveiled at GAMECO (Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company Limited) on February 14. The 767-300BCF, known for its efficiency as a medium wide-body twin-engine converted freighter, boasts a maximum payload of 56.5 tonnes and a range of up to 3,345 nautical miles. Boeing Vice President Cabin, Modifications, and Maintenance Doug Backhus acknowledged the collaboration between Boeing, SF Airlines, and GAMECO in successfully advancing freighter conversion solutions.
