Air India to Re-Launch Delhi-Tel Aviv Route
Air India is set to resume non-stop flights between Delhi and Tel Aviv starting 2nd March 2025, reinstating an important connection between India and Israel. The airline will operate five flights per week on this route using its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which features 18 Business Class flatbeds and 238 Economy seats. The decision follows regulatory approvals, signaling Air India’s intent to expand its global reach and cater to increasing travel demand between the two nations.
Boeing Projects India and South Asia’s Airplane Fleet to Quadruple by 2043
Boeing’s Commercial Market Outlook (CMO) predicts that India and South Asia’s commercial fleet will experience nearly fourfold growth by 2043, driven by strong economic expansion, rising household incomes, and improved air connectivity. The regional aviation market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 7%, making it the fastest-growing commercial aviation market globally.
The low-cost carrier (LCC) boom, coupled with increasing regional connectivity, will fuel domestic air travel dominance in India. Ashwin Naidu, Boeing’s Managing Director of Commercial Marketing for India and South Asia, emphasized the need for airlines to invest in modern, fuel-efficient fleets to accommodate this rising demand.
Norse Atlantic Announces IndiGo Wet Lease Agreement
Norse Atlantic Airways has confirmed a wet lease agreement with IndiGo, India's leading airline, for one aircraft to support its long-haul international operations. The deal, set to commence in March 2025, will initially run for six months with the option to extend up to 18 months, pending regulatory approvals.
This collaboration aligns with IndiGo’s expansion strategy into long-haul routes, leveraging Norse Atlantic’s aircraft while maintaining operational control. Norse Atlantic CEO Bjorn Tore Larsen called the partnership a "milestone", expressing confidence in delivering high-quality service to IndiGo passengers.
