AerCap Delivers First Airbus A321neo Aircraft To AirAsia

AerCap announced the delivery of the first three of fifteen new Airbus A321neo aircraft on long-term lease to AirAsia Group. The remaining 12 aircraft are scheduled to deliver in 2024 & 2025. To mark the delivery of the new A321neo aircraft and the strengthening of their operational fleet to 200 aircraft, AirAsia hosted a special ceremony at their corporate headquarters, RedQ in Malaysia. AerCap Chief Commercial Officer Peter Anderson said, "The partnership between AirAsia and AerCap dates back nearly 30 years to the founding of the airline, and it is a great pleasure to celebrate the expansion of AirAsia's fleet as we start to deliver a stream of fifteen new Airbus A321neo aircraft. These A321neo aircraft will complement AirAsia's current fleet and will bring improved cost and operational efficiencies, with more capabilities to support its continued expansion throughout the region, and well into the future. We congratulate Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, Tony Fernandes, Bo Lingam, Farouk Kamal, and the entire AirAsia team, and wish them continued success in the years to come."
 

Aergo Capital Closes WestJet Boeing 737-800 Portfolio Transaction

Aergo Capital announced it has successful completed the purchase and lease-back of eight Boeing 737-800 aircraft with WestJet. Aergo Capital CEO Fred Browne, said “We are thrilled to announce the completion of this purchase & lease-back transaction with WestJet. The eight B737s are an excellent addition to our growing portfolio. This marks our first transaction with WestJet, and we are particularly pleased to add another Canadian carrier to our client base. We look forward to an ongoing relationship with the airline. I would like to thank all who were involved in executing this deal so smoothly and expeditiously.” 
 

Karl Griffin appointed Chair Aircraft Leasing Ireland (A;LI)

Aircraft Leasing Ireland (ALI) announced the appointment of Karl Griffin, CEO at GENESIS, to the role of Chairperson. Karl takes over the role from Marie-Louise Kelly, Chief Financial Officer at ORIX Aviation after her successful two-year term as Chairperson. Jennifer Creevey, Chief Financial Officer with Nordic Aviation Capital has been appointed Vice-Chair of ALI and will assume the role of Chair in 2026. Aircraft Leasing Ireland (ALI) Director Elizabeth Bowen, said “Ireland is the leading centre for aircraft leasing globally and is a high growth sector of international financial services, representing $100billion of assets and that supports 8,543 local jobs. ALI works collaboratively with the Irish Government and state agencies to ensure Ireland retains this leading position. We look forward to working with Karl and Jennifer in these efforts. SMBC Aviation Capital delivers Airbus A320neo to Air India

SMBC Aviation Capital announced the delivery of one Airbus A320-251N aircraft (MSN 12187) to Air India. This delivery to Air India is the final aircraft of six Airbus A320-251N aircraft contracted to Air India from SMBC Aviation Capital’s direct order with Airbus.
