Akasa Air completes first year of operations
Air India eyes Cargo Market opportunities
Air India plans significant expansion in the cargo market domestically and globally positioning the carrier as a major cargo carrier, enhancing India’s supply chain, building upon recent initiatives. The carrier’s fleet will expand significantly over the next few years, with the addition of new wide-body aircraft to its fleet this year and with most aircraft on firm order set to arrive from 2025, including 34 A350-1000, six A350-900, ten Boeing 777X and twenty Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The new aircraft capacity will increase belly hold capacity by 300% annually to 2 million tonnes. Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson said, “At Air India, we see a huge potential in the air cargo industry, which the Indian Government plans to grow to 10 million tonnes by 2030. Our cargo division is implementing a series of strategic measures aimed at fostering growth and strengthening our market presence. The large passenger belly capacity addition will be augmented with the launch of value-added products and services across the network.”
Akasa Air completes first year of operations
Akasa Air completed its first year of operations on 7th August operating a fleet of Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft, including its first Boeing 737-8200. The carrier operates to 16 cities serving 35 routes operating 900 weekly flights carrying 4.3 million passengers and 25,000 tonnes of cargo. The carrier has 76 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft on order comprising of 23 737-8s and 53 737-8-200s. IndiGo launches new Mumbai to Jakarta route
IndiGo commenced a new Mumbai and Jakarta route effective from 7 August, becoming the only Indian carrier to operate flights between India and Jakarta and 106th destination on IndiGo’s route network, to meet growing demand for travel to Indonesia. IndiGo Head of Global Sales Vinay Malhotra said, "We are thrilled to launch these new daily flights between Mumbai and Jakarta. Jakarta, the capital and also the largest city in Indonesia, is also their economic, cultural, and political centre. This new route not only strengthens bilateral ties and enhances direct connectivity, but also enables access and promotes trade and tourism across Indonesia and India. Additionally, it opens up seamless access from Jakarta to IndiGo’s wide network across India, Central Asia, and the middle east. These flights will not only benefit Indian tourists seeking to explore Indonesia's pristine beaches and rich cultural heritage but also provide an exciting opportunity for travellers from Jakarta to connect with India.”
