Cathay Group Increases Airbus A320neo Family aircraft commitment
The Cathay Pacific Group announced the purchase of an additional 32 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, doubling the Cathay Group’s total orders for the A320neo Family to 64, of which 13 have already been delivered. The 32 additional aircraft will comprise both the A320neo and A321neo which will be delivered to the group carriers Cathay Pacific and HK Express. They will operate on routes in Asia and in the Chinese Mainland. Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International, Christian Scherer said “Cathay is one of the world’s leading airline Groups and we are proud to be part of its recovery and growth plan. Operating out of the Cathay Group’s base at the heart of Asia, the A320neo family will enable it to expand its services across the region with a most efficient single aisle fleet and a positive passenger comfort differentiation. With a significant reduction in fuel consumption, the aircraft will also bring an immediate contribution to the Cathay Group’s sustainability goals.”
China Eastern Airlines and Turkish Airlines collaboration on Shanghai-Istanbul route
China Eastern Airlines and Turkish Airlines announced the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to co-operate on Shanghai-Istanbul route. China Eastern Airlines operates three times weekly and Turkish Airlines daily enhancing the efficiency of the existing Special Proration Agreement (SPA) between the two partners, subject to regulatory approved co-operation maybe further deepened.
Korean Air Resumes services to China cities
Korean Air announced it will resume routes to China cities from Busan-Shanghai and Seoul Incheon-Xiamen will operate daily, and Seoul Incheon-Kunming four times a week to meet the growing number of Chinese visitors.
Pratt & Whitney Inducts First GTF at China Airlines
Pratt & Whitney announced today that China Airlines has inducted its first Pratt & Whitney GTF PW1100G-JM engine, that powers Airbus A320neo family aircraft. China Airlines selected the GTF engine to power 25 Airbus A321neo aircraft. Pratt & Whitney Vice President GTF Engines Aftermarket, Marc Meredith said "We are aggressively pursuing strategic collaborations to grow GTF MRO network capabilities. Our relationship with China Airlines dates back more than six decades, when they began operating aircraft powered by our Twin Wasp engines."
SF Airlines and Teleport announce collaboration
Teleport and SF Airlines announced signature of a bilateral interline partnership to leverage the strength on each other’s extensive air network to better serve their respective customer networks expanding into new markets. Teleport CEO Pete Chareonwongsak said “This partnership is in service of our continued efforts to add valuable third-party airline partnerships to Teleport. We are looking forward to supporting SF Airlines to expand their cross-border product in Southeast Asia. In turn, our partnership with SF Airlines, the largest cargo airline in China not only strengthens our regional connectivity within China but also extends our market reach into Europe and the Americas, connecting our network globally beyond Southeast Asia.”
