Airports Authority of India (AAI) expands flight calibration fleet
In order to meet growing demand for its services Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced the addition of two new Beech 360 aircraft to its AAI Flight Inspection Fleet to calibrate Ground Radio and Navigational/visual aids at all airports in the country. The aircraft will be deployed domestically and will be available neighbouring countries, which will also lead to generation of revenue for AAI.
Akasa Air enhances passenger experience
Akasa Air announced further enhancement of the passenger experience through a partnership with Borécha to become the first Indian airline to offer Kombucha, a probiotic beverage served on ‘Café Akasa’. The product can pre-purchased online through the carrier’s app and website and available for sale onboard. Akasa Air Co-Founder and Chief Marketing & Experience Officer Belson Coutinho, said, “At Akasa Air, we are continuously evaluating customer feedback to offer an inflight experience that aligns with their evolving needs and expectations. Modern day customers are becoming increasingly conscious of their food choices, and we are delighted to partner with Borécha to become the first Indian airline to serve Kombucha, a probiotic drink on board. As a healthier alternative for soft drinks, Kombucha has become extremely popular for its distinct taste and probiotic properties. Indian Domestic airlines registered an annual growth of 38.27%
The Ministry of Civil Aviation announced domestic aviation industry has experienced significant growth in passenger traffic during the first eight months of 2023. According to the latest Ministry of Civil Aviation data analysis, the number of passengers carried by domestic airlines from January to August 2023 reached 1190.62 lakhs, marking a substantial increase of 38.27% compared to the same period last year reflecting strong domestic and international tourism demand.
IndiGo and British Airways announce new codeshare partnership
IndiGo and British Airways have signed a codeshare agreement effective from 12th October to further boost connectivity between India and the UK. The partnership sees British Airways add its code onto a number of destinations across IndiGo’s domestic route network through its Mumbai hub including Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Goa, Kochi, Kolkata, Rajkot, Thiruvananthapuram, and Vadodara. IndiGo Senior Vice President – Network Planning and Revenue Management, Abhijit Dasgupta said, “We are excited to announce our codeshare agreement with British Airways. This partnership expands the choices available to British Airways customers for journeys to/from London Heathrow, using IndiGo’s extensive network in India. This step to provide seamless connectivity will not only support trade and commerce between the two countries but also offer convenient travel options to students and tourists.”
