Haikou-Bangkok route reinstated by Hainan Airlines
From today, February 20, Hainan Airlines will operate weekly flights from the Chinese city of Haikou in the southern province of Hainan to Bangkok.
Hong Kong Airlines Dual Beijing airports strategy
Hong Kong Airlines will begin operating a four-times-weekly service from 15th March to Beijing Daxing International Airport, making it the first domestic airline in Hong Kong to start service on this route and at both of Beijing's international airports.
Intermodal cargo operations launched by Cathay Pacific Group
In order to facilitate full upstream sea-air intermodal export cargo handling between the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific Cargo and the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal, operated by Cathay Pacific Services Ltd (CPSL), became the first carrier and the first cargo terminal operator to have cargo shipments accepted in Dongguan and transported to Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) by ship for outbound airfreight. Cathay Pacific Director Cargo Tom Owen said “We are delighted to join hands with AAHK to promote the economic growth of Hong Kong and the region, while further strengthening HKIA’s status as an international aviation hub by using this first and only upstream facility of its kind,” Owen said. “We would like to extend our thanks to our friends at Bolloré, Cargo Link, DHL Global Forwarding, Dimerco and Yusen Logistics, who helped to realise the viability and benefits of this programme with trials using real cargo shipments.”
Lufthansa Cargo boosts China capacity
In order to better serve the Chinese market, Lufthansa Cargo has announced a considerable capacity expansion. The airline will run ten Boeing 777F flights per week in total, two of which will connect in Shanghai (PVG). The number of weekly flights to Hong Kong (HKG) will expand from five to six, with one stop in Almaty, and the carrier will also fly to Chengdu (CTU), tripling its capacity there (ALA).
Philippine Airlines (PAL) expands Chinese route network
Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced the reintroduction of flights to Shanghai and Beijing this February from its Manila base , with Quanzhou (Jinjiang) and Macau returning its route network in March. The carrier is increasing flights to Xiamen and Guangzhou (Canton) to meet demand.
