AirAsia X resumes Kuala Lumpur-Beijing route

AirAsia X continues to expand its China network with the resumption of two weekly flights to Beijing operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft, stimulating business travel and tourism in their respective markets. Air Asia X CEO Benyamin Ismail said: “Our service resumption to Beijing reflects our commitment to boosting our network in China, which has historically always been one of our biggest and most popular markets and providing our guests with more options to travel affordably from/to Kuala Lumpur. More expansion in China is on the horizon for AAX as we plan to relaunch more routes and introduce more unique, less travelled destinations in China in the near future.”

China Southern Airlines and Etihad Airways explore deeper collaboration

Etihad Airways and China Southern Airlines are set to explore deeper collaboration opportunities following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The MOU provides scope for expansion of the current codeshare co-operation and allows the partners to explore extending global flight networks beyond the two carriers’ hubs also contains plans for mutual procurement opportunities across ground handling, cargo handling, bonded warehousing, catering, and MRO in either Guangzhou, Beijing or Abu Dhabi, broadening cooperation opportunities in the airline supply chain.

Etihad Airways Chief Revenue Officer Arik De said “This MOU will serve as a platform for a stronger ongoing relationship between the two airlines. Etihad looks forward to working with China Southern Airlines to explore comprehensive and pragmatic ways in which the two carriers can work more closely together, to drive greater value through our unique strengths at Beijing Daxing International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and further extend the reach of our joint network . Advanced cooperation between the two airlines sends a very strong signal to the industry and brings further hope of recovery for the global aviation and travel markets.”

EHang and CATEC Successfully Complete ICEX’s BAUD Project in Spain

EHang Holdings announced that it has collaborated with Spain’s Advanced Center for Aerospace Technologies (CATEC) to successfully complete the BAUD project in Spain. The flight test campaign of the BAUD project was conducted at CATEC’s Air Traffic Laboratory for Advanced Unmanned Systems test flight center, using two EHang Falcon B (Logistics) autonomous aerial vehicles. The developed autonomous airborne beacon can not only be applied by EHang AAVs, but also by any UAS, and will enable the safe operation of UAS in European airspace, through their intelligent integration with U-Space systems. 

Maersk announced two new US-China routes

Maersk announced the introduction of two new air freight services with schedule flights linking the Unites States with China to meet market demand, initially with two weekly Boeing 767-300F between Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport and Shenyang Taoxian International Airport and with two weekly flights between Chicago Rockford International Airport and Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport. The routes will be operated on behalf of Maersk by Amerijet International.
